Sorry folks, this is a continuation from another thread...

While I was driving to work this morning (so I could afford to pay the taxes for the flyover at the Rockies home opener today) the commander of the ANG unit at Buckley AFB was on the radio explaining the logistics of the flyover. He said "the pilots knock of a couple minutes early from their 'full tactical training mission' to get to the ball park in time for the flyover".

After I heard that, it made me feel a lot better that I was going to save a few bucks in taxes (and yes, I do pay a lot in taxes. I guess some think that is bragging, I don't enjoy it at all). In fact, I left work early and headed to the game so I could not only watch the flyover and my Rockies (yes, there are Rockies fans too, say Trevor Story!!!), but also the 50% (sad, but true) of non-taxpaying spectators that were there buying $8 hotdogs and $10 beers with the food stamps I payed for...

I just love a good flyover! but then again I'm only about as smart as a ham sandwich!

Note: Some build up their SAF post total in the several 1000's, mostly with quippy little one liners that make them feel superior to others in their replies, that's just great... I don't care if you are a 4 star general or a private, this forum should be more about sharing info, not to belittle others. I've valued what I've learned from the reasonable posters and especially the moderators on this forum, to them I say thank you and carry on.

I've got news for you, your taxes and my taxes have long ago meant NOTHING to covering the amount of 'money' that is spent in this country each year by the 'folks' we elected.

My choice? hmmm...spend some on a little fuel for fly-over that many enjoy? :wiggle:or :wiggle:spend about 10,000 times more on fuel for AF-1 to haul the First Lady & entourage on a Vacation to Europe?

Whelp given that trade off of this REAL-WORLD example, why are you publicly posting this 'shower thought'?

You are simply ridiculous !

I think you need to take a break from the Computer for a while and do some yoga.

...oh Goody I can post this ...as I confirm, I am in the "Off-Topic" forum !

Murf,

We are probably in complete agreement...especially about the waste that the current CiC and family blow on their vacations.

You probably haven't read the original thread that prompted me to start this thread (it was meant to be somewhat facetious..). I am totally 100% in favor of flyovers.

I was simply trying to point out that there are others on this forum that continually demean others and I am tired of wasting my time reading their posts.

To your yoga comment, I beat the crap out of myself every year running up and down the mountain in my avatar pic. Believe me; that is ridiculous!

Good night
WBY

WBY, I do apologize, I did not read the post as 'tongue in cheek' as it was meant.

Why the heck is scoutpilot such a turd on that thread? Because they retired OH-58D Kiowa Warrior ?

I'm confused. How do people leaving work early (who are not hourly wage earners) save you tax dollars.

If anything you're wasting tax dollars on less man hours.

If you think that's how flyovers actually work, you're being incredibly obtuse about the reality of how they are requested, tasked, and paid for.

After I heard that, it made me feel a lot better that I was going to save a few bucks in taxes (and yes, I do pay a lot in taxes. I guess some think that is bragging, I don't enjoy it at all).

Bragging about how much you pay in taxes so other folks can then infer your income your "exceptional" support to America is, honestly, tasteless and sad.

This is possibly one of the most tone-deaf, asinine things ever said on here...and I've been here a minute.

Did you have someone in mind? Or was this just for the masses?[/quote]

I hadn't flown that airframe for about 7 years before they retired it. Not that you know anything about it, but there you go. A morsel of information, gratis.
