I am expecting to be offered a 3-year scholarship for AFROTC. I received a 95 on my PFA and can fully perform any task I am given. However, I had back surgery to correct a herniated disc, but I have letters from doctors saying I am fully recovered. Will this be a potential problem that will not get waived? Thank you.

Andrew -- here is the link to the DoD reg DoDMERB will use to determine if your condition is DQ.

Look at pages 29 and 30. Best wishes.
Current herniated nucleus pulposus (722)) or history of surgery to correct (CPT 63001- 63200). A surgically corrected asymptomatic single-level lumbar or thoracic diskectomy with full resumption of unrestricted activity DOES meet the standard.
Does this mean I am in the clear if I had a single-level lumbar discectomy? Thank you so much for your quick response and service to our country.

Hi Andrew, I've been recruited to USMA for baseball and have a nomination with a reserved cadetship and appointment awaiting medical. However, I am looking at having a laminotomy and discectomy for a herniated/bulging disc, I'm sure similar to you. Can you please tell me the outcome of your situation? Thanks
