My son is a 2018, current hs sophomore and will begin taking ACT/SAT this summer/fall. Should we send his first scores or wait until he knows scores and wants to send? Does it hurt to send scores multiple times ?

I understand wanting to get a jump on things, but he can't send scores in until he's at least eligible to fill out a pre-candidate questionnaire. That won't be at least until next March when SS apps open up for rising seniors.

It won't hurt him to take the tests now, but I am not sure what the rush is. He hasn't even taken his Psat yet. Once he takes that, he can guage how his SAT will go. After that, he will have plenty of time to take it over if need be. I would give him a break and let him wait. He will be all tested out, I think, if you start now, unless you have a kid who loves taking tests. It is also a good idea to take both the ACT and SAT as most do better on one over the other.

Thanks for the feedback. He has already taken PSAT twice and will take again next fall. So will likely take both SAT and ACT in June or fall for a preliminary read on areas to improve on for later test.

That sounds like a good plan. What I meant is he has not taken the PSAT as a junior. Practice PSATs do not really count; only used as a guide so the tester can get a feel for where one is and where one should focus more effort.
