During the application process to Summer Seminar 2009, I stated I have a history of ADHD when questioned about medical conditions (my only note-worthy medical problem). I have not been medicated whatsoever in eight years and no longer even consider this an issue. I realize, however, I'm not the one that that determines this to be a non-issue.

I feel, according to much research, that I am a competitive candidate and have been accepted to another summer seminar--just not USNA...yet (remain hopefully optimistic according to posters of this site).

I'm wondering if my application will not be considered because of my past ADHD, and if my application was electronically/automatically placed on the back burner so to speak? I, of course, explained my situatio in the space they provided, but I doubt it was read considering the magnitude of applicants.

My question is if anyone else stated this diagnosis and was accepted to NASS 2009? (I understand the future hang-ups I'm going to have with DoDMERB at a later date when applying to the academies...just wondering about NASS).

Thank you for your insight.

NASS back burner applications

I believe the Academy will not put you on the back burner. If they considered your problem a rejectable criterion, they would have let you know right away. Even if they had referred your application to some type of medical review, they would have notified you of this action. Hang in there, the applications are still coming in for NASS, they do not close until the end of March.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my question.

I'm obviously nervous about that aspect of my application. I've applied to only two academies and want one just as much as the other.

I did not realize USNA notified us of rejection for Summer Seminar. I assumed we just weren't given notice of acceptance...."here's your sign" type of thing.

When my daughter applied 2 years ago she did get a rejection notification of some type. I do not remember if it was a letter or an e-mail. She ended up at prep school and is now a member of the Brigade, so rejection to NASS has no bearing on the strentgh or weakness of your application. This year they have had over 5,500 applications for 2,250 spots and the applications are still open.
