Close. Actually, that is your candidate application number you will carry through the whole process. Keep checking your email as the weeks go by and you will be given info about your portal and its use. By going to NASS, it is assumed that you will continue on and an application is opened for you. A little presumptuous perhaps, but the vast majority do go on with the application process.

My DS's NASS candidate number and USNA application candidate number were different when he was a junior.I think that candidate number only refers to your NASS application. The actual USNA candidate numbers come later, then you will be given instructions to log into your portal. USMA and USAF give access to the portal from the time you submit your summer seminar applications. Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but this is my understanding regarding the NASS "candidate #"
