I have already completed my preliminary reapplication for the class of 2021 and have a solid plan B for this coming year. I want to get as much done as possible as soon as possible so I can focus on grades when I go to college this fall, but what do I do for nominations? My BGO told me I can reapply using the same Massachusetts District that I reside in or the one that I am residing in for college. Is Rhode Island (Where my Plan B is located) a competitive state like Massachusetts and if not, should I try for the Rhode Island nominations or use my home residence? I received a Congressional nomination last year but not senatorial due to Massachusetts being very competitive, thoughts?

Congratulations on already planning and working towards your 2021 appointment!

Population of RI: little over 1 million
Population of MA: close to 7 million

They both have two senators. Which one will be "less" competitive? I think you already have the answer!

Disclaimer: did not run the numbers through Murfematic Analysis... ;)

You might want to double check, but I believe Senators can only nominate students that are legal residents of their state. Going to college in the state will not make you a legal resident there, you usually have to have to live over a year in a state to become a resident of that state.

It's merely an academic exercise....you as the candidate don't get to chose where your nomination application is submitted. It's your parents' permanent state of residence, not where you're going to college.

Unless you happened to be 18 or older, and you choose to change a few things.
