I've heard from several sources that 2020's beast will be significantly harder than past class', anybody else heard this too? Also, to any current WP cadets, why is this and is it because of Momm? Basically, who else has info or has heard stuff about this?

I too that. There's been rumors going around that 2020's CBT will be tougher on PT and Military Training. Mostly due to the fact that its been said that pass classes haven't emphazised enough on military training.
btw, I'm just posting what I've heard. May be wrong.

Beast is tough on PT and military training. They didn't go soft on any Beast class. Forget about rumors and make sure you are prepared and fit.

I know upcoming beast cadre will have Drill Instructors from TRADOC there during LTP(Leader Training Phase) to train them. I would expect 2020 to have it harder then 2016-2019. People high up are not very happy with perceived discipline issues with the current four classes.

This is exactly what I have heard as well. What people higher up are most upset and what specific issues are they referring to? And to be clear, the drill sergeants won't be working directly with new cadets but rather with the upper class cadre, teaching them to be more strict and such?

Welcome to the wonderful world of the rumor mill! Rumors will be a part of your military career for the remainder of your time in service.

My advice - treat the rumor mill at best as potentially interesting and quite often, entertaining news but take it with a HUGE grain of salt! Some rumors will pan out and others will be complete BS...okay ...MOST will be complete BS! LOL!

I will say this about your upcoming Beast experience - your cadre and the entire West Point staff is committed to your success and you have proven yourself up to the task!

Congratulations and ENJOY BEAST!

Rumor mills run the military! You have the military side of the rumor mill and even within it... The junior enlisted, NCO, Staff NCO, junior officer, company grade officer and senior officer rumor mills! Oh and then throw in the spouse groups rumors and it gets better. Take rumors in stride and wait for official word. Most rumors are just that, rumors.

One of the biggest changes USNA made when I was there was turn Plebe Summer over from Navy leadership to the Marines having a huge influence a few years later. We had all the senior enlisted Marines (who all had spent time on the drill field) come in and do a training event for Detailers. Sounds like what USMA is trying to do with TRADOC coming in. Honestly it didn't provide anything or help us in training the Plebes. They didn't do it again it was such a failure. Bottom line, establish the standards and enforcing them is the biggest thing. You don't need a DI to teach you that.

Just go, and enjoy yourself. And understand everyone who has every entered WP had to persevere through Beast. Its a right-of-passage you must conquer to continue the "The Long Gray Line" Its your honor, many were passed over and you were the one selected, because you elected to work hard and get to this point.

Some of the biggest issues that the current classes (including my own) have had are still being looked out and thus I don't want to spread any rumors. I have no control set to compare to, but there's been issues like alcohol boards and what not, and unfortunately some larger issues.

No, drill instructors won't be working with new cadets. What I was told by my friends that will be beast cadre is that the DIs are there for them to learn during their trainup before new cadets arrive. TRADOC and USMA have had a lot of restrictions lately on corrective PT and this has led to beast cadre not being very effective. The DIs are there to teach the cadre (who themselves are 20 some year olds who are doing this for the 1st time) how to make corrections and set standards. The intent is for the cadre to be able to enforce discipline and standards without relying solely on corrective PT (which was still be a thing, just not hour long smoke sessions).

Sure, I have a bridge I want to sell you.

Kidding aside, everything is relative. Suppose West Point wants to make Physical training harder - they have to consider additional injury it might cause or finding additional time.

It's not Ranger School.
