Still on hold in Florida, waiting for an email or fed ex from USMMA. Would I see if I've been denied on my portal already? Assuming I've been put on NWL, or hoping however.

Sign up for FedEx notification. At least you will know when a label is created for you. You just won't know if it's an Appointment or else the Sponsored Prep program. You won't get fedex notification if it's TWE. Good luck!

Hang in there. Hoping you hear soon!!
Visited USMMA last week. The admissions counselor said that, for those of us on "Hold", it is "Now a waiting game." A significant number, roughly 30%, of those offered appointments to the Academy end up turning them down for other academies/opportunities. So quite a few of those on the waiting list will probably be offered an appointment before I-day. Good luck to all of those still waiting!

Well he finally broke down and called usmma admissions. Their answering machine basically says don't call us we'll call you email to a normally very responsive RC has gone unanswered. My faith has not wavered but hope is shaken not stirred.

This is downright genius.

Thanks KP Eng. It worked for us. We knew the Sponsored Prep was on the way and had time to be ready for it.

DS, who is on "Hold," visited KP last week and confirmed that he is on the "National Wait List." In answer to the question, "How many people are on the NWL?", the RC said "Lots." RC went on to say that "It is basically now a waiting game."

There are lots of other "games" that we would all rather be playing, I think, but our lot is but to "wait."
Good luck to all Mariners still on Hold.

I am glad to have gone through this process well before portals and internet forums. You all have access to much more information, but I think there was defiantly a certain bliss in my ignorance.

Fed ex delivery manager - enrolled today. At the very least I will know about my wine shipments
LOL. I got really excited when I got my first FedEx notice, til I realized it was something I ordered. But it will say what company does the shipping, so you can tell easily how "happy" you will be. In your case, might be equal. Haha!

Sorry to hear about not getting in, I'm a self prep at NMMI and I'm still on hold, same thing happened last year I was on hold till about mid May

Denied today. See you all next year :) meaning the next few weeks.
Sorry to hear... We are still waiting. Told several times in the past weeks that he's "in a good position," but we're starting to lose hope. If it's a TWE for my DS too, we'll have to stay in touch and keep each other company!

agreed! NROTC at SUNY Maritime is THE best possible secondary outcome. I am happily filling out mountains of paperwork at the moment. He says he will reapply to USNA and USMMA but I know he's going to love SUNY. I had such a good feeling when we visited and he was full of talk on our ride home. He and I both admit that this had a slightly stronger sting than the USNA turn down but I am thankful that we aren't waiting anymore. Such a weight has been lifted and he's back to laughing and joking rather than waiting and worrying!

That bottle of Champagne that I have been saving will finally be opened tonight and we will celebrate! It's Bollinger. It is our honorary Champagne because it was saved from destruction by Patton's Third Army. My father in law, the handsome devil on the left hand side of my screen picture was there. The retreating Germans were in the process of rigging the winery with explosives when 3rd army arrived. They were in the right place at the right time. For this and many other reasons, I don't believe that it is cliché to say that everything happens for a reason ;) Good luck to everyone still in the running!!

So very true! And what a great photo:)

Is he starting SUNY in the Fall? My DS was adamant that it was KP or bust (he may soon very well be dealing with his first real-life disappointment if it's bust). I told him he is applying to USMMA and SUNY come May 15. If he wants to be a Merchant Marine, he's gotta keep more doors open.
