Does the academy provide any organizational aids, like an assignment notebook, or do I bring my own? I normally use a notebook or my phone to keep track of my work.

You are treated like an adult college student, and you will set yourself up with whatever organizes you best. The Mid Store has everything you need before ac year starts, and if not, there is always PPW and parents to get you to Staples.

You are most welcome. Don't worry about this stuff for I-Day. If you are already an organized soul, you will figure out what you need in the transition time between end of PS and start of ac year.

As an organized soul myself and veteran paper list-maker, I adopted Trello on my iPhone about a year ago. Have some fun with that, if not familiar. I used it for myself and also in the management of a remote team for projects and status updates. Lots of versatility.

Your Navy trivia for today:
Wheel book. Very small flip notepad or spined notebook that fit in pocket of shipboard uniform, flight suit, coveralls or field working uniform, used to jot down notes and To Do's on the fly, and keep track of reminders or other key info. Smart phones have assumed that role, but often times, you might be in spaces where phones aren't allowed for security reasons, so wheel books live on.

Capt MJ is spot on. There is a Mid Store on the Yard that will have 99% of what you need for classes. If there is something you need unique, Amazon Prime is your friend. No one will micromanage how, where or what you study at the Academy. Sure there are study hours, but if you sit and screw around for 3-4 hours every night that is your call. And you will use a Wheel Book as a Plebe. During Plebe Summer you will carry a notebook everywhere, same with Plebe Year. Don't worry you will get issued plenty for teh Summer. Actually I did carry a Wheel Book and pen every day in the fleet and still do as a civilian. It allows me to jot down notes in case I am not carrying a laptop or full notebook. Its easy to carry to meals when your Plebe more than anything without bringing your phone out and looking unprofessional

In Boy Scouts, we call it a Butt Brain. Its the small spiral notebook that fits in your back pocket.

You can set up a Yardcard as well for purchases on the Yard. We did this for DD and put some money in the account in case she needed supplies. She also uses Amazon Prime as NavyHoops suggests and that works well too. You really don't need to bring much at I Day other than paperwork you are supposed to bring, so don't worry about anything else.
