Looking for hotel, transport, and restaurant recommendations for the Army/Navy Football game in Baltimore.

Book early! Most hotels will jack up their rates and probably insist on 2 night minimum.

Many will just drive up and back, and make Annapolis their HQ. If you want the downtown Baltimore experience Friday night (A-N Boxing Smoker!) and before and after the game, walking around, book near the Baltimore Convention Center/stadium.

Plenty of interesting neighborhoods and both local and mid-range/upscale chain restaurants, plus requisite crab cake places. Reservations will be key. Little Italy is fun. Walkable, extended, from convention center area. Fells Point used to be a dive bar area but has now been gentrified and revitalized with trendy places. Remember it will be December, and there could be a nasty, damp wind off the harbor.

In Open Table, neighborhoods to check, walkable or short drive from Inner Harbor/Conv Ctr:
Downtown
Harbor East
Federal Hill
Fells Point
Little Italy
There are certainly more areas to explore, but in the next ring of neighborhoods surrounding the harbor.

There are plenty of gastro pubs and casual fare places - Yelp will be helpful.

Check Diners, Drive Ins and Dives locations on Food Channel website. Guy Fieri has been to Charm City several times.

Favorites we visit regularly, more because we are local, and it's something different from home in Annapolis:

Petit Louis Bistro

This one is serious dollars. I included it for variety, and it is worth it.

Top things to do we steer our visitors to:
National Aquarium (Inner Harbor)
USS CONSTELLATION tour (Inner Z Harbor)
Ft. McHenry

Transport: Much will depend if your mid is returning to Annapolis after the game. Plebes usually do, via the buses, unless an unexpected overnight is given. No way to tell at this point. There are no stadium parking lots for general ticket holders. There are private lots surrounding the stadium, and game day parking is a royal PITA. If you want to go lean and mean, taxi/uber to hotel and forget a rental car, walk everywhere.

There are some very nice Hotels out toward Hunt Valley. They are right near the Baltimore Light Rail which will take you right to the Stadium. Price is about $2 PP one way purchased at machine at each station. When we left the game there were so many people trying to buy tickets out police just said get on the train and go. Fogo De Chao at the Inner Harbor is great for meat lovers. Fixed price of $52 PP for dinner $37 lunch. Pricey but all you can eat (skip the salad bar). We registered for the Alumni Brunch and it was fantastic especially since it was a cold day and we could get to the stadium early and stay warm. Did skip March On because of the cold since once you enter you can not leave to try to get warm but we have seen others in better weather.

Good note on the light rail. We have caught the Balt light rail from BWI airport, had forgotten about that. I think we did that when the game was a midday start. Saturday service hours may be a factor, depending on game ending. If you flew into BWI, took free shuttle to airport hotel, and light rail to/from BWI/Baltimore, that's an approach that could be fleshed out.

I think Light Rail runs until midnight on Saturday. Best way to the stadium. As you say parking is bad on game day.

Get in touch with your Mids: they have received information today on buying tickets for this upcoming Army Navy Game.

Buying through them you know you will be sitting on the winning side with them!

BEAT ARMY!!!

Don't let them procrastinate. They have their window to buy tix, not sure how long, and the game will be sold out before summer. If they buy tix, but you cannot use, Naval Academy Athletic Assn has a buy-sell marketplace in their website, and there is StubHub.

Can Plebes purchase tickets during this time period? Is there a website they can use to do so?

If what has historically happens continues, the city that hosts the Army-Navy game will roll out the red carpet for the fans who are coming into town. This includes, most likely, running extra trains to the stadium that day. I know that Philly ran Army-Navy express trains to and from the stadium, even handing out little chocolate footballs to riders as you entered the station! Army-Navy is a huge money maker for the hosting city, and they want you happy! So yes, please take light rail to the game. You’ll be glad you did.

Now if the cities could just do something about the weather……

P.S. Cannoli from Vaccaro's. You’re welcome.

Plebes have to go to the game and will be brought there by USNA bus. Plebe parents will be offered tickets. I don't remember when that offer comes out, but should be soon if you haven't seen it yet.

Definitely go to the game - it is a lot of fun. Last December we saw our Plebe after the game. She signed up for a late bus back to USNA so we were able to take her out to dinner.

Per navy football’s website, parents of incoming class of 2020 plebes may apply for Army-Navy tickets beginning June 7.

Yes. The whole brigade received the email sent by the Navy Ticket Office yesterday morning. It contains specific direction for all Mids to purchase tickets (limited to 4).

Time to say hi to your DD/DS and have them buy your tickets!

Join the Blue and Gold Club and support NAVY Athletics. I did last year at the 3 star level and as a plebe parent had seats within 10 rows of the field. For a football fanatic it was the best $'s ever spent! If you can make sure you join as a 3 star or higher. This will get you good seats. Remember BAltimore is a smaller stadium then Philly.

As for hotels I would stay in Annapolis and drive up to the game. Less than 30-40 minutes from the yard.

Plebes will have night off after a WIN! Also hotel prices are cheaper in Annapolis. But book early they fill up fast.

Hotel booked, check, tickets purchased, check. Just need to book flights! Go navy beat army!!
