Hello, I recently read that the Army is rolling out a new APFT, but the details are a bit confusing. They never did say what cadets will have to do.

Does anyone know this information? How different will it be from the current PFT? I want to make sure I'm fully prepared for when I join my cadre in the Fall.

Thank you.

Maybe ask your ROO? I am thinking if there is a change for incoming students in August, the ROO would know about it.

Darien - were you talking about the Combat APFT that was supposedly suppose to take place of the current APFT?

If so, I'm not sure if that ever got any traction. Last I heard they were still testing it out (but that was a long time ago) ... so I'm not sure if it will change, in the near future at least.

There was a post by Bull in this thread. Something about a new PFT taking place in October. I looked it up and there were some articles about it too.

That post is 4 years old, as Jcc123 said, there is no new APFT.

I think what the OP is asking about is the new OPAT, this will be a physical test given to help determine Branch Selection in future classes. Those requesting Infantry and Armor will need to meet the standards of the new OPAT. This year they are just giving the test to get a baseline for scoring, the test won't effect branching until possibly next year. Of course things could change again as they often do.

Ok, thank you for the information! I didn't notice that post was necroed.
