Has anyone ever been turned away on R-Day for having bad acne. Also have you ever heard of anyone on accutane while at USMA? I understand that you cannot take it before you go, but I am unsure if they can prescribe it to you once you are there.

Plenty of kids show up with acne. Once you get thru Beast go to medical and make an appointment with the dermatologist. They will prescribe a course of treatment and monitor your progress. Your upperclass will be able to help you make the appropriate appointments until you learn the whole medical system when the academic year starts.

That being said our DD did one round of Accutane and it worked beautifully!! Good luck!!

Was this before or while attending the academy?
She is not attending academy, she just got a AROTC 4 yr scholarship but she did it while in high school. The result though, was almost perfection. Wait until you get to academy and go see dermatologist.

Accutane may be prescribed and used by a cadet/mid while at any of the Academies.

Not "will be" but "may be." Only the medical staff will know if you are a candidate that can benefit from its use.

It's a miracle drug, I've see incredible cures by those who have used it.

My DS used it in High School but I think he had to be off of it at least 1 year before his physical (or Rday) not sure which. Its in the medical regulation. It was all disclosed in his physical and we had to provide copies of his file. The drug worked wonders.

They won't turn you away for bad skin, and agree with wait til after beast and go see the docs. It is a wonder drug, and shouldn't be an issue for you, but females using it are highly recommended to be on birth control, just FYI. In fact, some docs won't prescribe it to females without ensuring birth control, if I'm not mistaken. Good Luck!

Birth control pills are not an option on Accutane THEY ARE A MUST! As are monthly blood tests to prove you are not pregnant and your blood levels are normal. The use of Accutane is highly monitored for a female but like I said it is awesome!!

Accutane does not work for everyone. Some doctors will not even prescribe it, and instead give you something milder like a topical cream, before prescribing accutane.

There can be some pretty severe side effects, so keep that in mind.
