Apologies for lack of military knowledge.
DS is finishing up the report paperwork. The life insurance form asks rank. Is midshipman an official rank? Is it O 1 or Something else? I tried a search on here but didn't find it quickly.
warning- more newbie questions will likely follow

When I was filling out the PTR packet there was a pre-filled form in there (I don't remember which one exactly) which under "grade/rank/title" was pre-filled in as "MIDN Candidate" This is what I put down on the life insurance form.

USNA counts the classes in reverse of civilian colleges so a Freshman is 4th class (Plebe), and Sophomore 3rdClass (Youngster) , Junior 2nd Class (Second) , Senior 4th Class (Firstie)

Senior 1st Class. I know that's what your brain meant, but your device went astray.

Oh he'll have those "do it again" nightmares. I've had a few.
Oh my goodness, never thought about that, but I can imagine what those are like, constantly finding out you have a paper due tomorrow that you didn't even know about. Needing to study for some test in a cloudy subject you can't quite place UHG...

Continuing to keep off topic from the OP - 'the dream' has been recounted so many times by SA grads that it has caught the attention of psychologists who have researched it

It is an amazingly common dream among SA grads

My recurring dream is I can't find my class and I am late and freaking out that I will miss my test and fail. I keep running all over Michelson and Chauvenet with no luck in Winter Working Blues (we used to wear long sleeves and ties to class) and lugging my book bag around (we couldn't have backpacks). And I didn't graduate yesterday either...

My DH, a USNA grad from backaways, still has them. Still. Variations on being late for class, assignment or missing team bus.

I have them from my Pentagon tour at OPNAV. I am being asked about a briefing for the Joint Chiefs or SECNAV, and I have absolutely no clue WTH the tasker is. It's usually 10:30 or 11 at night, and I am thinking about getting out of there for the day (yes, quite common, with at-desk time of around 6:30 AM). My 3-star boss walks in, or sometimes the VCNO or CNO himself, and asks the dreaded question about how's the brief coming together. I have no answer. That place can scar you in terms of pressure-cooker daily life. That's why I think the SAs produce those dreams, because of the prolonged and deep pressure to deliver whatever on time and correctly, every time. I suppose it's great training for that OPNAV or JCS tour later...

I apologize too for going down the rabbit hole off-topic. Enough with recurring anxiety dreams - candidates and parents have enough to wonder about.

My most vivid dream recently was school related... and it's weird...

This is the dream:

I'm student and I have a final exam, but I haven't studied. The form of the exam is essay. We have to complete a paper in class and turn it in.
Our school is a single-room igloo (in shape, it's not made of ice, it's a well constructed tent) with no real entrance for the students. There is a small hole on opposite "sides" of the tent (I realize there aren't sides on a circle). It's best to think of these holes as the entrance of an igloo, only smaller than for a human. Between the two holes is a well-worn dirt track. Walking head-to-tail, continuously, are turtles. They enter the classroom through one hole, walk down the path and leave through the other hole. To turn in your final exam paper you have to put your paper on the back of a passing turtle. The turtle with your paper on its back continues down the path until it exits through the hole. Just outside the tent are baby bears, which immediate eat the turtle and your final exam paper as the exam-carrying turtles exit the hole. That's how you turn in your final exam. It's completely normal and expected in this dream.

Clearly you have issues... go ahead make that doctor's appointment tomorrow! ;)

Do you also wake up in sheer, total panic with your heart racing, then after a few seconds when you realize what just happened tell yourself "thank God it was only a dream?" LOL.
