I've got my appointment and I am about to send in the official acceptance form to USNA.
I need to send with it some for of ID, and it is coming down to my birth certificate or notarized copy of my passport.
Does anyone know the turnaround for these? I don't want to have to go out and get a notarized copy (my parents are EXTREMELY busy keeping a roof over our heads), but I am going to go for my driver's license soon and ant to make sure I have my original birth certificate handy.
Any advice?

Ben

Hi Ben, I don't know for sure on the turn around. However, if you have a passport and no travel plans, send it. It took one week for my son's acceptance to be acknowledged by USNA (mailed last Saturday and I checked today and they have received and posted). So, I would say turn around on your original documents is about 2 weeks. As far as notarized copies, they are easy to get at a bank if you have one nearby and want to try that instead (we are also in MD)
See you on I-day!

Ben

There is usually someone at most High Schools that is a Notary.

I would bring in your original birth certificate along with a copy and then inquire at the Main Office. They are usually more than happy to oblige certifying as to the authenticity of the copy. (Make sure they use the raised seal.)

PS, I'd also suggest you obtain two copies and keep one for future use.

Congratulations on your appointment! :thumb:

Im a bit curious. My son sent his appointment acceptance back to USNA quite some time ago. It did not ask for proof and / or ID. Also, how is it possble to check if they received it? I don't beleive they post that on the candidate information web site. I guess the academy can be called, but do they really want to be called by over 1200 appointees?

Ben, my son's birth certificate arrived back home today, 2 1/2 weeks after he dropped it in the mailbox with his acceptance.

My acceptance did not ask for proof of identity eiter just the background check, piercings and tatoo policy form, and the accept/ decline- it also came with the dental information and I sent it in but then we received an email stating it was not necessary.
But we are suppose to be receiving our packets in a couple of weeks!!! I am so excited! I have been waiting since December :)...

you could correct me if im wrong but i read in another forum that the package that is supposed to arrive in mid-april has been pushed back to mid-may. bummer.

anyways i received my blue folder finally yesterday and i have a question. im getting all my passport stuff and birth certificates ready, but in regards to the dental page. Im getting my wisdom teeth out before i go but dont know the date, so how do i file the paperwork?

Congrats on receiving your appointment!

There was paperwork regarding dental work included in your package?

I have the feeling no 2 people are treated the same here, the procedures change by the minute.

yeah im supposed to report like tattoos, dental work, and the background check. Im going to get my wisdom teeth removed before i leave, so can i go ahead and fill out everything, send it in, then notify them once i get my teeth out? thats where im confused

Congratulations on the appointment.:thumb:

As for the Mid-April package, we just returned from a CVW visit last weekend and it was mentioned at least twice that the date has slid to Mid-May...

That said, only 91 days to I-Day... As a current plebe advised my son, enjoy them while you can.

That's exactly what I did. I sent in my acceptance right away and then when I had my wisdom teeth out a few weeks later, I had the doctor's office print a short letter saying that everything went fine. I sent that to the CGO and everything was fine.

yeah i emailed my cgo before i got my wisdom teeth out and they relayed me to the academy med and she told there was no need to mention it because they take a panoramic when we get there.

No dental work form for zanerdude09. As I understand, a bunch of vaccinations are part of the permit to report package......if it is late, better plan on getting after it right away. Some of those take several weeks with boosters, etc. Hate to hear that the permit to report package will be later rather than sooner!

alright thanks for the info. It will be quite fun getting my wisdom teeth pulled, better than having them pulled once im there. and congratulations to all who have also received their appointments
