Does the waitlist actually close at some point? If it does, when and how are waitlisted applicants notified? And when does it typically close? RDay?

Based on last year, Objee posted on forum around May 20th that wait list would continue to be looked at until June 1st -when the conditional appointments are reviewed.
Per my DS AO, Bears Den account will be updated with latest information.
As for getting calls past first week of June, in theory it could happen even a couple of days past R day based on what others have said in Forum. However that means something unexpected has happened. While not impossible, it is a thin thread of hope to hold onto and DS AO said it was completely unpredictable. Also as we get closer to R day, from what I have heard from people at other service academies who talked with AO, those that are physically closest in terms of home address will get the call as they in theory are most likely to be able to get there last minute.

All applicants who accepted their spot on the wait list were notified (see e-mail below) that we would continue to fill vacancies in the class until June 1st. All applicants will be notified when the wait list has been closed. Obviously applicants who are no longer interested in being considered for an appointment should withdraw their name from consideration as was requested in the same message.

>>>Thank you for accepting your spot on the wait list for our Class of 2019. As outlined in your notification letter, I would encourage you to submit an updated academic transcript by February 1st and the easiest way to get this (or any new material) in your record is to send it directly to your Admissions Officer via e-mail. Please note, our wait list is not ranked, so all applicants positively replying will be considered equally for appointment should spots become available in the class between now and June 1st. We commonly outreach to applicants appointed off the wait list with a phone call followed up with an e-mail directing them to an online decision letter similar to your wait list notification letter. If you decide in the future that you are no longer interested in attending the Coast Guard Academy, we would appreciate knowing this so we may withdraw you from the wait list and learn where you've decided to attend college instead.<<<

Per Objee with 2018 class, waitlist usually closes 1st week of June.
No change since this post by Smitty:

There are some remaining conditional appointees who have until June 2nd to either become medically qualified or receive medical waivers for disqualifying conditions...that could open some additional spots for appointments to wait list applicants. We usually "close" the wait list at the end of the first week in June.

Thanks for the information! I suppose we still have a thin thread of hope then...although we have put Plan B in place, it's hard to fully commit with enthusiasm to Plan B when there is still hope :)

Totally understand. If it goes like previous years, basically in just over two weeks the 2020 official path to appointment closes. :( At that point, hoping that our DC energy level for plan B will go up.:bounce:

Has anyone gotten a call off CGAS waitlist in the past week?
I'm still on the wait list. I missed the decision deadline for my plan B school because of the amount of hope I had for this choice.
