Hi I recently spent a lot of money on a macbook pro for use when I go to the air force academy. Will I be allowed to use it or not?
Yes- and it is luckily more relevant now than ever. We are looking to have civilian wifi for the first time next semester (if everything goes as planned, of course). While you would not be able to connect to the .edu network with a personal computer, it would still be a good system to have and use for recreational purposes.Hi I recently spent a lot of money on a macbook pro for use when I go to the air force academy. This is not true. A squadron cannot keep you from using a personal item like a computer, similar to how they cannot take away your phone. There is really no need to take away a personal computer, either.I would leave the macbook at home until Parents' Weekend. Depending on your squadron, you may need approval that first year.
I did say "MAY need approval". My DD was in a pretty tough squadron her doolie year so - all sorts of restrictions on media use (and squad wide restrictions in general). Glad they've eased up a bit. This is not true. A squadron cannot keep you from using a personal item like a computer, similar to how they cannot take away your phone. There are routers installed and everything- it's a pretty done deal at this point! Whether or not it's a good thing is yet to be determined..Haha. I remember talk of civilian wifi coming soon back in 2009. Good luck!
