I know that the USNA accepts ACT scores.

But why do they not post any sort of ACT data on their freshmen class profiles?

Does anyone know?

Why, especially since more students take the ACT than the SATs now and since the other SAs post ACT data?

USNA converts ACT scores to corresponding SAT scores, then superscores by section and across tests. So you could have a highest math score from the SAT and a highest reading score that is converted from the ACT.

If you search around you can find concordance tables between ACT and SAT. I don't know if College Board has published new tables that relate the ACT with the revised SAT.

A quick rule of thumb would that you probably want section scores that are at least in the 90th percentile.

I appreciate the feedback. But it still doesn't answer the question why the USNA would not post the ACT scores in their profiles.

The SAT score averages that they post include the converted ACT scores.

I would suspect that the short answer is that they report the SAT scores, because having converted everything into SAT numbers, it would take additional effort to calculate a true ACT range. They would have to convert ALL of the SAT scores into comparable ACT scores.

There is also the issue that the SAT has two main scores (math and reading/writing on revised test and math and critical reading on old version - USNA didn't use the critical writing score as far as I know) while the ACT has additional sections and breakdowns (including the science section).

They probably consider their time is better sent dealing with candidates than converting all of the scores just to put it into the class portrait.

That makes sense. Good point.

you are asking a question on one can answer here. The folks here are not the policy makers at the Academy.

I'm not sure "policy makers" are needed to answer the question. Perhaps former admissions officers or current/former BGOs could have shed some light. But Full Steam's response makes the most sense.
