Hello all, I am almost already to head to the academy on in processing day. All that's left for me to do is buy some boots. Any suggestions?
They'll probably issue him new boots if they are stained like that. My DD said, "no, no ... tell him to bring them". Then she laughed evilly. ;-)DS worked out with his Belleville boots in colored red mulch at the park. If they have a red stain, are they toast?

Don't do anything to make yourself stand out.
Try googling how to clean them. Hopefully you can save themSuch a shame. They were great newish boots and getting broken in. . .
I have a pair of Nike SFB's in Sage Green. Would it be okay if I bring those, since it's highly recommended to bring your own boots and they fit all the requirements in the appointee instructions? They'll probably issue him new boots if they are stained like that. They're actually really nice boots. Just a bit heavy. Totally doable though obviously seeing as thousands of people have worn them for Basic and been just fine.My son did fine with the issued boots last year.
Thank you for the info and the links. Much appreciated! For both 2018's and 2019's basic, you were ONLY allowed to wear the issued boots, of which you were issued two pairs of. I'm not sure if it's changed or not for 2020's basic.
For the school year, it depends on your squadron and the ROEs (Rules of Engagement) that they set for the doolies. My squadron was not allowed to wear any other boot but the basic boots for the whole year, until after recognition. However, there were squadrons where they could wear whatever boots they wanted right after A-Day.
EVERYTHING here depends on your squadron.
If you want to buy some boots, the most popular here are the Nike boots and the Rocky boots. I personally have the Rocky's and I can't say enough how much I love them!
The basic ones are nice, they're just heavy and clunky. I keep a pair in my closet for whenever it's wet outside, since they're waterproof.

2019 was definitely allowed to wear non-issued boots. I know for 2020 that it is highly recommended that you bring a pair with you (I've spoken to some of your future cadre and they agree with that recommendation). I also believe the information given to the appointees lists specific types of boots (Belleville, Welco, etc.) that are basically what you will also be issued (since you will have a total of 2 pairs at the end of BCT). I would suggest getting those. I know some 2019ers who wore Nikes, but 1) they got basically ruined in Jack's Valley and 2) the cadre might be more strict about boots this year since they were highly recommended instead of optional. For both 2018's and 2019's basic, you were ONLY allowed to wear the issued boots, of which you were issued two pairs of.
