The Citadel! That is a great school! I am happy to know that your boy will be rewarded for his hard work. Things happen for a reason, and next year I am guessing it will all make sense....you wait and see, he will thrive and be happy and so will you.

Peace, my friend! :thumb:

Thank you very much. I hope he will re-apply next year.

And originally that was his plan if rejected for this year... but he is feeling now that he will not want to do that. We'll see what he thinks in a few months.

Today is not the day for that decision, of course.

You are right, the Citadel is a fine choice.

Most importantly, we have faith that God is sovereign, involved, and cares for us individually. We know that He has TJ's best interest in mind -- for His own glory. So, knowing we've prayed this out, we will continue to pray and endeavor to walk it out as He ordains.

TJ and I know not to lean on our own understanding (which perhaps we have done too much of) but to acknowledge Him in all ways and He will make our paths straight.

TJ has decided to leave his "Coast Guard - 24 Hour Rescue" sticker on his jeep, but has gone out and applied the Citadel one to it, too.

Here's to good news for everyone else who is waiting on USCGA!

Blessings!

Hi Mandy,

Glad to hear that TJ is at peace with the outcome, I'm sure he will be a fine addition to the outstanding cadets at The Citadel.

But remind him that (as Shellz can testify) a re-applicant the following year, after taking and passing college-level courses and retaking the PFE, may be looked upon favorable as well, and that a dream delayed only by a year can still come true.

Perhaps they count that perseverance of the re-applicants as a determining factor.

Best of luck to you and the whole family.

The commander of the blue angels graduated from The Citadel.

Hey, Coast Guard is still an option out of the Citadel. I know a good number of Citadel grads serving in the Coast Guard, including my first CO. Remember, not going to CGA doesn't mean you can't serve in the oldest continuous sea going service!

i'm happy he has such a great option... but sad that he got that little envelope...

wow. so wonka and all my other shipmates from AIM have hear and i still havent? What is going on here?

on another not, tell him congrats on Citadel for me. !!

Yep. Wonka is going to the Citadel... and on an Army

ROTC scholarship. So, I don't think he'll be going into the Coast Guard after graduation unless he does reapply to the Academy after his knob year and ends up at the Academy after all.

I still can't believe that a kid with as great a nick-name as he got at AIM isn't in... if only for the laughter factor. "What is a wonk-in-ator?"

Alas, he doesn't resemble Willy Wonka near as much now that his hair is shortner. And, with the knob cut... well, lets just say all the chocolate factory days will be but a memory once the barber gets to him.

averx - PM me so I can tell him your message. I don't know who you are IRL.
Best wishes ---- I hope you get the BIG WHITE ENVELOPE!!!!!
