In the appointees book, its says not to bring more than one piece of luggage. Does an athletic duffel bag and a backpack count as one or two pieces of luggage? The reason I'm asking is the duffel bag is kinda smaller and if I pack everything in it, it's tight but my airline allows one carry on and a backpack so I was wondering if that was fine for I day. Thank you

Just remember that you must carry everything in your left hand. EVERYTHING. Can you carry the dufflelbag and your backpack in your left hand all day?

As mentioned above, you only want ONE bag with a handle that you can carry. If you need more room, then you have over packed. You do not need "Costco" sized shampoo/body wash/etc. You only need travel size stuff as you will get to the C-store (it is like a small drug store with everything you need available) within several days. There will be people showing up with suit cases and you will see them struggle running here/there carrying their luggage. Don't be "that" person.

And whatever you do, DO NOT BRING A ROLLER SUITCASE!
You don't want the special attention that will bring (sorry cadre for ruining your fun :p)

Our son carried a string bag with underwear and a toothbrush and shaving items. That was all he was told to bring! You will have a ton of stuff to carry around that day-don't draw attention to yourself!! Have parents bring other stuff at Parents weekend-or mail it to you.

This is the way to go. At USNA, you will see a lot of plebes with a 13-gal kitchen drawstring trash bag, a big envelope and maybe a lax stick.

Great tip on roller bag in other post - not.

I really did mean great tip on roller bag. The "not" had more after it, but iPhone burped.
