O-Course

Can any former plebes give an idea of what a good time is on the O-Course?

A single obstacle course? A minute I believe is maximum score time, anything under 1:20-1:30 is probably pretty good.

I'm curious, why do you ask? The plebes are not scored or graded on the O Course.

That sounds about what I remember. It honestly doesn't matter. The point is to learn the techniques, push themselves and get introduced to it. It will matter in the future if they do things like Leatherneck. For some that might be the lone time they ever touch the O Course besides Sea Trials depending on their summer training and desired service selection. The only thing that will really impact them from Plebe Summer into the AC year are two things... Their final PRT which is taken at the end of the summer and the reputation they establish. If they are known as a chit surfer that is not a good start, but things can and do change during the AC year.

Just because DS sent a letter saying his time was a minute fourteen seconds and I didn't really have any context for that. Just curiosity.

@HopefulDad3210, you're going to get a LOT of information without context in the next few months! Keep a list of these questions to ask over PPW, if you are going. Eventually, they get better at telling you what acronyms mean and what the context of a 1:14 O-course time or a "B" in plebe drowning mean. Also, this is not meant in ANY way to suggest you should not keep posting these questions here! Good for your DS!

Thanks. Easier to communicate with you all right now than with him [emoji41]. I think a lot of parents on here are just looking for a proxy. Thanks for your patience and all the great info. To be honest, I was just happy to hear he's back in the game. Last letter I got he was in a knee brace, ankle brace and on crutches.

IRT the final PRT- if Plebes are still injured &/or cannot not take/pass the PRT by the end of PS what happens? Are they placed on remedial until next PRT test date?

Also, will the new detailers be in place by this Sunday's 2nd call? The first one was the fastest 30 minutes ever!

Yes to both questions.

Enjoy the time you have....plebe summer phone calls were only 3 minutes at one point and certainly, some of the older grads never had that opportunity.

No kidding. We had 3 my summer. The first one was 5 minutes in which Detailers yelled the entire time. So most of us hung up quickly as it was pointless to talk and freaked our parents out. The second one our Detailers cancelled (no, they can't do this anymore) and the third one we got 5 minutes without yelling. And we were never told, nor were our parents, when the calls would occur.
