Hi!
I am wondering if it would be worth it for me to take the AP Chinese exam. I am Chinese but I would have to spend a lot of extra time studying for it. I am already taking french at school. If it's not worth it, I don't really want to take it.
Thanks!

Take it only (IMHO) if it fits two criteria:

1. You want to take it to see where your proficiency level is.
2. You believe it will be beneficial to some portion of your future plans.

Otherwise, why?

Do you plan to take Chinese in college? If so taking it could be advantageous as a method of showing your proficiency to start in a higher level class. I know USAFA does give credit for high AP test scores in history and English but am not sure about foreign languages. They (used to) test in basic and if you do well enough you can start in a higher level, just without credit for the lower levels.

Another element to consider is the FLPB (foreign language proficiency bonus). It requires what I hear is a VERY challenging test to get, but the AP test might be a good place to start, get some practice, and see where you are really at

I do not plan to take Chinese in college. My mom just wants me to take it because she thinks it will in some way boost my chances of getting into USAFA.

^ which doesn't mean that would be one to which you are assigned.

See Flieger above.
