My DS is in the middle of completing applications for both Air Force and Army ROTC At what point can he schedule his officer interview and how does he go about doing so?
Thanks!

They should get in touch with him at some point during this fall, but if his preferred schools are close by (and/or you are visiting them) you could contact their detachments/battalions and ask the cadre about completing the interview in conjunction with a visit. Sometimes you can even shadow a cadet for a day which is a great opportunity to get a feel for the detachment and the ROTC program.

Thanks. So he needs to have everything else done first, correct? He has everything done except his fitness test as he wants to train more for that but he's hoping to have his applications completed in time for first boards. With that in mind when would he need everything completed to allow enough time for an officer interview to be scheduled before first boards? Thanks again.

I only have experience with the Army ROTC application process. As soon as everything is in and reviewed by Cadet Command his portal will update to an "interviewee" status at that point he can schedule his PMS interview. The fitness test does not have to be done to schedule, but the PMS will want to have it completed and have the form at the interview.

My DS is AFROTC. ROTC contacted him to set up the interview once his application was submitted.

Thanks everyone. I was under the impression that he had to upload his physical fitness test before he could submit his application. Sounds like that's not the case?

I applied for army ROTC for class of 2020'. I was prompted for pt scheduling and interview scheduling at the same time.

The "submitting the application part" is the kind of a loose statement. In other words, it is a working application, submitting pieces of it as he goes, there is no final "submit". So yes, he needs to upload his fitness test prior to being considered by the board, however, that is also true of his PMS interview. It isn't actually submitted for review by the board until everything is loaded in. However, he will be able to interview during that process before everything is completely done. The things that need to be done are his survey, ACT/SAT scores past minimum requirements, grades, etc. The portal will prompt him when he is in interviewee status. After everything is in the system, including his interview and physical fitness test, then it will say "board ready". That basically means it has been submitted.

He is all set to schedule his Army interview but Air Force says he still needs to submit his fitness test. Nothing about being able to schedule an interview yet.
