Hey everyone, I've been lurking around this forum for a couple months now and it has been of great assistance!

I'm currently waiting, along with thousands others I'm sure, to hear the results from my package. I'm currently enlisted (Navy) and stationed in San Diego, CA. As my screenname implies, I'm an STG3 ( Surface Sonar Technician) and have been in the Navy for what will be 2 years in May. :thumb:

Goodluck to everyone waiting! I'm sure results will be out soon!

Thanks for Serving!

Good Luck on your package arriving soon!

Thanks for the support!

I also forgot to mention I grew up on the Chesapeake Bay in MD (Kent Island) so I know the area pretty well incase anyone has any questions.

STG3 Kline, I have my fingers crossed for you (and for all the other deserving candidates on here) that you receive an appointment. Prior enlisted bring a great deal of depth and maturity to USNA. You'll have the military immersion part down pat, and just have to get your brain in gear to deal with the academics and your sense of humor tuned way up to keep your military bearing even-keeled during Plebe Summer. Keep us posted!:thumb:

Thank you for serving, I hope you get the thumbs up very soon.

Def STG3, I was a MM3 then spent this last year at NAPS let us know when you find out if you get in or not, my fingers are crossed for you!

prior too, grew up in Westminster btw (Carrol County, if you didn't get around MD too much). Good luck man, post back here if you got it.

I highly suggest that prior enlisted explain their rate in detail to their company. When I say explain, I don't mean to tell everyone that STG (as an example) is just a sonar tech; tell them what equipment you work with and how it works (i.e. 53/TACTAS/NIXIE/AEGIS Integration/etc); how it helps the surface/subsurface/air warfare areas; what kind of maintenance you do as a 3M maintenance man, etc.

If I could do it all over again, I would have definitely engaged the priors as a 1/C or 2/C...makes for good MIDN training...definitely would help you when you get to the Fleet. If I was a company officer or company training officer, I would be making those individuals hold training.

Food for thought, as priors....you can definitely lead in your own ways....not only from seeing "real" leadership in the Fleet, but from your combined in-rate knowledge.

MMs -- steam platforms?
STGs very important for ASW/USW employment
ETs/ICs backbone of electronic equipment/internal comms maintenance
