I am a rising senior with very competitive extracurricular activities and GPA, but my standardized test scores are lower than most applying to USMA. If I was to Re-apply, would West Point admissions look at my grades in the college I am at for that 1 year instead of looking at old Standardized tests scores? Thank you.

WP super scores your ACT/SAT test scores. In other words they will apply your highest scores. Take the standardize test as often as you can! However, your score will peak after the third or fourth attempt. At this point you will need to seek outside help to learn the technique of taking these tests. Your college courses should be selected to mirror courses of a first year Cadet. You will need a calc, Physics and chem with a lab. This will demonstrate you can handle college level course work. The best way to increase your WCS is to improve ACT/SAT scores.

I hope this helps.

Thank you for your advice.

My DS was not accepted his first attempt. Went to Prep school that provided a lot of assistance with ACT/SAT and his scores improved quite a bit. Took JC classes in the Spring, but got accepted letter in early Feb before he really had any scores from JC. JC was Calc Advanced, Physics, some advanced English class and US History. They wanted his transcripts and updated scores at mid-terms. Good luck

Which prep school did your DS go to? I am not too familiar with JC. Your DS went to a JC and took these classes and from their, WP admitted him? Lastly, when you said "before he really had any scores from JC," do you mean his grades in physics, calculus, English and history? WP wanted his SAT/ACT scores as well as his transcript? Thank you.
