Genesis invitational???

I've heard of Genesis Invitational in the past, but is CGA still doing that? If so, does anyone know when it is and how we could get invited? Is there a criteria? is it something we could apply for or do we just have to wait and see? I heard it could be in the fall or winter, but is it just once or multiple times during the year?

Is Genesis Invitational the same thing as Bear's Day, or is it different? If it is, it's in September and you can sign up on the USCGA website. If it's not the same, maybe someone from admission will have the answer. I'm also wondering if Bear's day is the same thing as Cadet for a day. I wonder why there are different names for these visiting events and if they are different in content.
 
Genesis invitational is essentially cadet for a day except for minorities and people whose parents do not have a college level education. They have three dates this year one in September one in October and one in November they are by invitation only but if you go on to the website and reach out to the officer in charge you should be able to get an invite if you qualify.

It seems cadet for a day is for kids who didn't get to go to AIM, but is Genesis Invitational for non-AIM participants also, or can you go even if you attended AIM? If it's by invitation only, how do they seek out the students to invite if you don't actively reach out to them? What I mean is, how do they know of your existence and your interest in Uscga unless you initiate something, like turning in your application?
 
Yes, the opportunity exists to attend Genesis even if you attended AIM.

If you received an invitation to Genesis, but cannot attend to commitments to sports and school and distance of travel, do you need to send a message declining the invitation?

If that's the case, should we just wait and see if we get an invitation, or should we be proactive about it? Does anyone know if invitations for the September session went out already? I'm still not really understanding how they will find the students to invite if we don't approach them fist and ask. Do they go through the AIM applications to pick out the students to invite?

If you don't mind, did your son or daughter receive an invitation already? How did it come?

Yes, my DS received an invitation. It came via email last month. It was based upon his attendance at AIM.
