Looking for great reading material. Any suggestions for a book you can't put down?

Thrillers, spies, military, who done its, etc.

"Reilly: Ace of Spies," by Robin Bruce Lockheart. It was a PBS drama years ago, with a young Sam Neill, based on real life of Sidney Reilly, the operative on whom Ian Fleming based James Bond. I finally read the book in a binge read two weeks ago.
It's a vintage read - real life better than fiction.

'In the Garden of Beasts: Love, Terror and an American Family in Hitler's Berlin' by Erik Larson. True story about William E. Dodd - the U.S. ambassador to Germany in 1933 that reads like a suspense novel.

I read 'Once A Eagle' by Anton Myrer. Not a light read for sure, but well worth it!

"Lincoln: A Novel" by Gore Vidal

Part of his historical series. It has spy stuff, military matters, political intrigue, and drawing room repartee. If your eyes stay dry when Lincoln visits the field hospital full of badly wounded Confederate soldiers, then you are probably turning the pages too fast. You can get a used copy on Amazon for less than...a Lincoln.

The Wings of War series by Mark Berent. It's five books I think, but they're hard to put down. It's about the air war over Vietnam and the author was an F-4 pilot during that time, so you get a great perspective on what it was actually like there.

Another one...still taught at Squadron Officer's School (I think...it was)

"Twelve O'Clock High" by Bairne Lay Jr. and Sy Bartlett.

Try to see how many styles of leadership you can see.

"12 O'Clock High" what a great movie..."It's always the commander's fault. That's his job."-Gregory Peck
