My deadline is November 1st. Does anyone know an approximate time I should be notified if I have been selected or not? Thanks.

April 15 to May 1 is normal. Some get word earlier, a few later.

My DS has the same Nov 1 deadline, a long time til April/May. Patience will be tested.

Here's the "bottom line" for appointments...

There will be "some" notified starting in the November-ish time-frame. I make this statement based on past experience; NOT on any knowledge of this cycle. Blue-chip athletes will receive LOA's at any time from now until acceptance. Note I said "LOA's" not appointments. Those will come later.

As for the "vast majority" of appointments...it's "hurry up and wait" time!!! Meet EVERY deadline...EVERY ONE....

And then figure...mid/late March for the big initial "slug" of appointments...with the remainder coming from the end of March to the early week or so of April.

That's how it works...it's been that way for...heck, I don't know. It was that way when I applied in the Spring of 1977 (junior year) and again in 1978 when I applied again.

Curious how you decided on Nov 1 as your 'deadline'. Even with an LOA (rare), you still need a NOM to be in the running for an appointment. MOC deadlines to issue their NOM's are generally toward the end of the year. April/May is more realistic.

Not sure what the rush would be as you most likely won't finish h.s. until May/June.

Is it something set by the Academy? I know for MOC's and Senators they ask by either October or November 1st also.
HS is May/June but SA deadlines are much sooner.

I think the OP means that USAFA told him that his deadline is Nov 1.

Like my DS and some others, USAFA imposed an earlier deadline of Nov 1 to submit all application matters.

Well...you also must have your nomination. Our MOC didn't give those out until early Dec. I went back and checked and my DS was offered an appointment on Jan 11. By the way he had a Nov 1 deadline but finished everything up by early Oct.

Uh oh.
Raptor, you need a chillax pill.
You may find in life that what you write may be misinterpreted by many people, who have no evil intent.

You didn't say your "deadline" for what? For your MOC? For USAFA to get all your materials in? For some forms for your school?

Please, it is an anonymous forum. We're here to help you.

We get it - you're anxious to get on with everything (senioritis much?). Just be careful when you start slinging mud because it's got a way of coming right back at you.

Now please... relax! :)

No problem.

Now go clean your bedroom and finish up that English assignment.

(See, some things never change.)

Best of luck! And keep asking questions!

^^ I agree. This a forum intended to help applicants (and their parents) get answers to questions they may have. The clearer the question, the better advice we can offer. I don't understand why people get angry when we ask to clarify something.

My DS completed the process early last year and completed the MOC interiviews and nominations were sent in November/early December. He was notified of his appointment in late December/early January. This is the worst part of the process - the waiting game.

Son has a November 1 deadline also. He gets the reminders about his deadline emailed to him from admissions periodically.

He knows he won't be hearing anything until spring so he's spending the time focussing on Plan B schools and scholarship applications.

My stupid question. Does USAFA have different application deadlines for different applicants? Is it based on when you start the application process?

USAFA has different deadlines for applicants.

This is from the USAFA portal:
"USAFA uses a 'rolling' deadlines method to control application flow and improve customer service. This system affects the amount of time an applicant has to complete his or her application."

I believe the basis for the deadline is the competitiveness of the applicants. The more competitive the applicant, the earlier the deadline.

I recall last year someone saying that each applicant had 4 months from the date they opened their portal.

Both boys, 2 years apart, received noms in January some time. One received his appointment in mid-March and the other the 1st week of April....National wait list timing, for the most part........patience...:)
