What was your timeline of applying and getting ready for USNA in your junior year of high school?
 
Go to the USNA Admissions website, https://www.usna.edu/Admissions/index and read it in its entirety. Take a look at Summer Seminar closely as that is what you can apply for as a junior. It usually opens in January timeframe. Focus on what classes you should be taking now and what you need to take in the future. Map out the timelines for next year from summer seminar, application opening and etc. Follow the admissions site on Facebook as they keep that open. Really looking at this year's timeline will really be a close match to next year's. Look at your MOCs site at this year's info to get an idea of what it could be for next year for deadlines. They do vary. Know the dates and make a plan. Workout, volunteer, take SAT/ACT prep courses. Also have some fun too!

Do you have Girls State on your timeline. Girls State is looked on very favorably by the SA and ROTC programs. You attend during the summer between junior and senior year.

Will Girls State increase my chances of getting in ?
 
It will add to your WCS. Anything you can do to build that is a good thing.
 
Boys/girls state will add to your WCS leadership score. I have see documents that say it carries as much weight as Eagle Scout.

Posters on here are generally very willing to help with advice, recommendations, experience and suggested web links, especially to those new to the journey of applying for a military commissioning program.

Asking them to respond to a question that would take you all of a few seconds on any device with an Internet browser to research is not likely to get you an instantaneous response. This time of day, SAF is quite active, and answers come quickly.

If you are unsuccessful on your own in finding the answer, please tell us, and I am sure someone will quickly post the info. Sometimes the search nomenclature can be hard to figure out, but not in this case. I just checked, using "girls and boys state."

This is truly meant with kindness. The questions on here are many and varied, and endless patience is regularly on display.
 
Boys/Girls state is a program for rising HS seniors run by the American Legion. Contact your local American Legion Post to see how you can participate.

Excellent advice above.

I would also suggest talking to your high school counselor, vice-principal and even principal about your plans to apply to a service academy. You might be surprised how much help you might receive. Hopefully, they can help with the girls/boys state application process. Also, you will need letters of rec (LOR) from both your English and math teacher (I think). So, it is a good idea to give these teachers the heads up that a LOR will be needed.

Before you meet with any of these people, first put together a resume or brag sheet. Write down all of your accomplishments and be ready to talk about it. There might be thousands of students at your high school - so it really helps to give whoever is writing your LOR more info about you.

Find out when NASS and the other academies open up their summer applications. Write this down on your calendar and plan to apply early. really early.

Lastly, install a pull up bar in your house and start running!
 
Do at least one decent CFA test Before you start your sports season. You can always re-do it, but the whole application process is for naught if you get hurt during the year and cannot do a CFA. So things can be worked around NO CFA=No appointment. It is not as far fetched as it sounds. Out of 3 Candidates we have worked with, 2 had broken bones before the end of sports season.
