I am a rising college freshman, looking to apply for a 3 year AROTC scholarship on campus. The thing is, next year in the fall trimester (my school works on the trimester system), I may need to take a leave of absence from college for certain personal reasons. Can I apply for a scholarship and let the Army know that I do NOT want the first trimester to be paid for? Is that something that can be done? I know it shouldn't be crazy to ask for the Army NOT to pay, but I just thought I should ask whether anyone here, especially some of the people working at the AROTC units, has any experience on this.
