When will NROTC begin informing candidates of their status? DS applied and is waiting. Not sure if the timing. Thanks

They only let scholarship awardees know when they have received one. People who are not awarded a scholarship are rolled over to the next board and may not hear a negative reply until April. Make sure plan B, etc. is in place so you can execute quickly if it takes that long. DS's plan B was to attend a college with NROTC and enroll as a college programmer without the scholarship. He eventually won a scholarship mid-way through his sophomore year.

Keep in mind that the Navy boards, Marine boards, and Nursing boards are all separate and on very different schedules.

Hope a scholarship comes through for your DS.

Navy Option boards should start in September but I cannot confirm if they have. It takes 2-3 weeks to get the results out. Marine Option boards meet in November and (I think) Feb. Nursing Option boards meet twice but I don't know when. I would not be surprised if it's same general dates as Marine Option boards.

The first Navy board is this week. Results generally come out 1-2 weeks after the board, but only recipients hear something. If you weren't selected, you could wait for months without news.

Here is a list of NROTC board dates from last year. I have not seen one for this year, but I would assume that they would be similar.

My NROTC status page was updated today from previous logins. Previous logins just said my application is in the "scholarship selection/placement system" and just displayed my SSN and DOB. Today I logged on and it has almost a whole page of information regarding my application. Selection status says a decision has not been made yet. Does this update mean that the first board has recently met or is just meeting this week?

My son's page updated exactly like you described about 2 weeks ago, right after the final paperwork that needed to be updated was accepted. Based on the chart of dates from last week, if it is the same this year (which really, who knows... ?), the board met last week and will begin notifying people next week. I'm hoping that anyone who was selected on this first board will announce that they were so that others will know that if the status hasn't changed, it's because they likely were not selected the first board, but that the board has in fact met. (I hope that made sense.) Anyway... I'm stalking that status page twice a day... first thing in the morning and then after dinner... hoping to see the words "Congratulations" one day soon!
