Just a quick question- does it take longer for USAFA to process a HS transcript? All my other documents- school profile, form 48, etc.- are received and processed. My GPA and Class Rank are complete as well. (How did they get those without the transcript???)

Hi! It shouldn't take longer for them to process the transcript. Once mine was received, it was processed on the same day. For the GPA/Class Rank stuff, an administrator or counselor typed that in via an online link (most likely).

It seems that they do take a while to process the HS transcript. My son had his sent in a few weeks ago and no update on the portal.

Alright that makes me feel a bit better. Will you let me know if yours shows up? I've emailed my counselor but she didn't reply.

The Form 48 is submitted electronically. My DS high school mails in the transcripts along with schedule and school profile. Form 48 has been loaded for three weeks, awaiting other updates that were mailed 15 Sept.

They look at thousands of kids' high school transcripts. Please, relax. You are on step 5 of 918.

You'll drive yourself crazy if you stay on this path.

So, then , how long would you give it before you start to be concerned? Our school just released the information to the students last week and my DS guidance counselor sat with him on Sept 29 ( Thurs) and uploaded for 48 but had to mail in the rest of the information----much like Moezam. His deadline is Nov 1. At what point does he need to be worry that maybe the information didn't arrive. When I have done the mailings ( LOR, MOC apps, etc...) I send them certified , return receipt and they can be tracked to ensure they went to their destination. I know the school does not do that.

Watch the portal. It will tell you what's in and what's not. And keep in contact with your ALO.

Have YOUR SON (NOT YOU!) stay in touch with his GC. Make sure they have sent the forms (let's say by Oct 16th) as requested. Have him, in writing, let the GC know ALL his deadlines. Usually USAFA won't hold the school's delay against the applicant but it is your son's duty to stay on top of all of that. NOT YOURS. This will hold him in good stead later, and take some of the pressure off you.

Perhaps in the last week of October, I might give the ALO a heads-up/status update.

This may help you all keep on track: Make a big wall calendar (ours, with four homeschooled kids and four in college) and put it up in a visible place. Ours was beside the door to the kitchen that everyone went through every day. Keep it updated with ALL deadlines, events, etc, at school, church, jobs, sports, etc. We color coded ours but your mileage may vary. :) Keep ALL the college infor there (his plan B schools, plan C, etc). Then, there is no question about what is due, when. I advise against keeping this on a computer or phone, though it can be there too. The wall calendar is there for everyone to see, and makes things more real.

Best of luck. Please let me know if I can help in any way.

Thank you, fencer. All good advice. Fortunately my son was in the office with his GC when she submitted form 48 and he made her call me to let me know the rest of the info couldn't be done online and would be in the next days mail. She assured him she wrote down the date when the info was sent just in case there are any questions about that. DS has been in regular contact updating his ALO on his progress. He is almost done with his Common App essays (The students actually worked on the essays during their English classes) and will be ready to submit the application shortly for his AFROTC and non military colleges. He is taking his ROTC PFA next week to complete that application as well. We do have our main family calendar as a back up to the phones/computers, and fortunately my son is pretty organized and on top of things ( we have drilled that into them pretty early on) I just check in with him and ask how things are progressing. I know he checks the portal regularly to make sure his info has been updated. He has his first MOC interview next week and will be submitting the applications to our representatives......just one more essay to complete.

Happy to say, my sons school info is now showing on his portal. All info received, now we sit back and wait.. Well, not really...we continue fine finishing our plan B, C.....etc applications.

My transcript finally showed up, about 3 or 4 weeks after all the other documents.
