I already purchased tickets to a few football games, including Army/Navy, through my state's parents club, but then learned that my 2020 Cadet can get 4 tickets to each game. Are the tickets the Cadets get good? How does he go about getting them? He is obviously still in Beast, so I know he wont be able to get the tickets until, the academic year, but I wanted to purchase 4 tickets to the Army/Air Force game in November. Anyone know whether those tickets will be in high demand? I assume that is the biggest home game of the year.

Another question. Do all of the cadets march in the pre-game parade? Will my son necessarily be in the march? And then how soon after the game will we be able to take him and go to dinner or hang out?

1. The tickets the cadets get are likely the parent section / nose bleed (they are for Army/Navy). If you want to be an A club member (donate $$), you can get better seats, but the best seats will cost a lot of $$ and I believe go to those based on how much they donate and how long they've donated. You can call the ticket office; for Army/Navy, you will be asked for your cadet's name and class year. During my cadet's Plebe year, we went to home Army/Air Force game (knowing we wouldn't be going to Army/Navy that year) and got a taste of the excitement between SAs. Those tickets were in the nose bleed but not bad considering Michie stadium is smaller than others.

2. For the parade and march-on, 2 of the Regiments participate, and they rotate for each home game. The fields are not big enough for 4400 cadets at once. Somewhere on the list of home games that will be posted on the parents page and/or by Deb Dalton, there will be a list of which Regiments/companies do the parade and which do the march-on. I haven't seen anything yet this year -- expect to see something around Reorgy.

3. Because my cadet is in one of the Support/Spirit clubs, we had to wait on him after the Air Force game. Your cadet will have to sit with the other cadets in the stands (unless he's been tasked to work concessions, or in the band), but you can meet up with him during the game. Expect to wait up to an hour afterwards to go to dinner/hang out, since he'll need to check out.

Thanks for the great info. Very helpful.

If you go to Army/Navy game in the years when he US president attends, takes longer to get through security. Also can be VERY cold that time of year, so getting there too early just means you sit in the cold longer. Lots of older threads about Army/Navy game. I know for USNA home games, the mids all march on from the Yard. Not sure how it works at WP. For Army/Navy all mids/cadets also march into stadium.

Just going to throw this out there for those who are interested in life at the Academy, but its not because the parade field isn't large enough for the entire Corps at once. There are multiple reviews through the year which involve the entire Corps (i.e. A-Day, Grad parade, Thayer Review, etc.). Its more tied into the logistics of everyday life that keeps it two regiments for a football game. There are taskings that need to be filled by cadets every football game that facilitate the game, guard duties, etc. that there will be one regiment assigned as the duty regiment and tasked out to those needs. Additionally, as most people are familiar with cadet life, everyone participates in a sport. For the typical cadet (i.e. not Corps or Club Squad athletes), this means intermurals (IM's). IM's has to be balanced with drill practice. For every parade there will be drill. Those regiments tasked with the parade will have less IM practice/games that week in turn for time to drill. I will save my comments on drill practice. Let's just say that I was glad to be a club squad athlete in the time of drill authos (a privilege that's been becoming more and far between).

I would just encourage you to go to at least one Army-Navy game while your Cadet attends WP. I am a lifelong fan of sports and have attended many events through the years. I have attended the last 2 Army-Navy games and they are the best sporting events I have ever attended. Get there early for march on...this year the Squids go first. Soak it all up. It is awesome.

This year i have chosen to attend a game on campus and I cannot wait.

Go Army! Beat Navy!

Already have Army /Navy tickets ordered, and plan on not missing a game while my son attends WP . We also have tickets for two home games ordered, and are planning to add the Army/USAFA game. It's an eleven hour drive from Michigan , so we are packing a few games in there, all things considered.

From everything I have heard and read, the gamebday experience is second to none. We are really looking forward to it. Just wondering how much we might see my son in pre and post game activities. The answers here are very helpful, as I knew they would be.

I didn't go his Plebe year and son did the buses on boomerang- down there and back on the same day. That was also a very, very cold game and the buses had trouble making it back to WP( another story) in the snow. The past 2 years when I went, our Cadet was able to travel on Friday and we got to have dinner together and breakfast on Gameday. At Baltimore in 2014, my seats were above the Corps and we got to visit at halftime. Last year at Philly, since WP marched on first, he had some free time before the game and came up to our seats to visit with momma.

I don't remember the time restrictions on Plebes and if they can come down early on Friday. Also one other thing that was understood...if Army wins, don't expect to see your Cadet after the game, as they will be partying with their buddies. I truly hope our Firsties get to experience this, as the last 2 games were so very close.

Small question about the stadium seating
My mother in law has bad back
Do they rent seatbacks at mitchie

Any chance anyone has tickets to this Saturday's game to sell?
Not sure if you are a mom or dad of a cadet, but daily there are posts on West Point Moms and West Point Dads of people wanting to sell a ticket or two. If you are on those facebook pages, please ask around...you never know.
