If I have my application reviewed only by the 3rd board, will there be any scholarship opportunities left? Or how many scholarships are still available by the 3rd review board? Thank you!
 
Yes, there will be plenty of scholarship opportunities. If history repeats itself, most of them will be 3-year scholarships but you never know for sure. Nobody knows how many scholarships are handed out and plenty of people end up declining them anyway because they end up with multiple options.

Ooh I see. Would you say it is more advantageous to be reviewed by the 2nd board than the 3rd?

One thing to understand is that it is not a first come, first choose type of process.

Applications are reviewed by a board and given a score, once you have been reviewed that is your score and it will follow you through each of the three boards. So, once you are scored you are placed on the list (OML) from highest to lowest score. They then select a certain number starting at the top and working their way down. If you just miss the cutoff then you are rolled over to the next board, realize that you will not be scored by the next board but will remain on the list with your original score. Now there will be new applicants for the next board, they will be scored and placed on the OML accordingly. This means that there may be new applicants with higher scores that will be placed above you, so if you were in the #1 spot after the previous selection, you could easily move down the list if the new applicants have better scores.

Because of this it really doesn't matter a lot which board you make, if you have a strong application and are only seen by the final board and your score is higher then you will be placed higher on the OML and have the same chance at a scholarship that you would if you were seen by the previous board.

Of course there are a few caveats to this, your school selections being the main one, the schools you have listed will have to have available slots for a scholarship, most seem to have slots for the final board looking back at previous years. Even though a bulk of offers on the 3rd board are 3 year, there are still 4 year scholarships given by the final board as seen by some on this board over the past years.

If you can get everything in for the 2nd board then great, if you have a strong application then your chances are still good if you are only seen by the final board.

For what it's worth, and it was way back in 2010, my daughter received her scholarship on the 3rd board and received a 4 year scholarship to the Top 3 schools other list. Admittedly, only one of the schools (Michigan) probably shows up on numerous school choice lists. The recruiter from Michigan, a LtCol, called us several times trying to talk her into going there but she fell in love with another school on a overnight campus visit.
