Good Evening All,

I am currently in the process of applying for the Naval Academy and was wondering where I stand compared to everyone else. If there are any other enlisted that got picked up I would really appreciate hearing your stats!
Sat Scores, Awards, time in rate, rank, age, LOR, college, nominations, collateral duties, Etc. Thank you in Advance everyone!

Elena it is rude. Because the application process is slightly different for enlisted military this is a fair question.

Aircrew I know there were some on other threads who offered to help perhaps you can find those posts and PM the posters. Also, the enlisted applicant contact in the admissions office can help with any questions.

FlyNavy, lots of priors on this board. Take a look at some old threads and you will find some info regarding prior stats. For priors there really is a variety all over the map of backgrounds. Strong high school grades/SATs are huge. Sign up on base to take your SATs and ACTs again. Take a prep class to boost your scores. There is even a recent one with some sailors working on their applications for next year. There is a Chief assigned to admissions whose entire job is to help fleet applicants. If you have questions make sure to call or email him. If you have a Naval Academy grad in your unit (I am sure there is), ask if they can help you with your application, reading your essays and for any advice. I am sure they would be more than happy to help. Make sure to follow the Nav Instruction or Admin notice released for applications. Make sure to check in with your admin also. They will be routing documents up to your CO for endorsement. They can help make sure formatting and other details are correct on your endorsements. Best of luck.

I was going to say the same thing. If you search enlisted for the threads there is a ton of info i believe and message me if you have any questions. i will give you a quick bio. I am an AD3 AW. Been in 3 and a half years deployed 3 times. I work out of NAVSTA Norfolk.

Ha and thanks midmom. I have used these forums a lot!! 1up

Hey Joel im not to sure how to send private messages on this site. Maybe we can email? Im also still curious about the CO endorsement and how to fill it out. Appreciated the help. TIA!

Hey its no problem you have to have a minimum of five posts to send a pm i belive. Here is my personal email. joelbradford525@gmail.com and yes please feel free to email me with questions or anything
Hey guys, I stumbled across this thread. I was curious to find out if an enlisted CG member could apply to the Naval Academy and what makes his or her chances of getting in better.

Thanks,
David

Dave --I don't know details, but I am confident there is a pathway from enlisted Coast Guard to USNA or USCGA. In my day (80's), Coast Guard sent a handful to NAPS , but I don't recall if any were prior enlisted Coast Guard. I would recommend you check with your Career Counselor, and if there isn't one -- there is an Senior Enlisted Advisor at USNA who handles fleet accessions ; he/she would know.

Hey guys, long time lurker here!
I've read through plenty of these enlisted threads and I'd just like to seek some moral support if you'd like to call it that haha.
A little background:

  • Enlisted sailor currently deployed in Europe
  • E-5 been in over 3 years
My application is sooo close to being complete! CO already said I will get a fantastic endorsement along with my SECNAV form. Just waiting for the papers to get back to me so I can send it in the mail. Had 2 great officers in my chain write me letters of recommendation and everything else is squared away (CFA, DODMERB, test scores, ect.) I've finally decided to ask you guys on here about my shot to get in NAPS since that is where I'll most likely end up because I've been out of high school for so long. This is my last eligible chance for NAPS and I've been so nervous during this whole ride! Not to bag on our fleet counselor chief but he's not too good at responding to my emails so please feel free to give words of encouragement, advise and anything else while I wait this out! Thank you :)

Thank you very much for your guidance and optimism. If there is a way I will be sure to find it.

@aegisFC, cutting it close to the deadline, aren't we? I am sure you/your admin is already planning to track the package via registered mail. Don't forget to keep a copy of EVERY PAGE sent for your own record. With the tracking in hand you/your ship's admin can reach out to the Chief/admissions to confirm it has arrived safely. Best of luck, Shipmate!

Thanks! Yeah I should have it in the mail hopefully before New Years! I've been pushing this whole process so my CoC doesn't sit on it longer than needed.

31Jan17 is the deadline for the application with endorsement turned in and completed according to all instructions! 31Dec16 is the deadline to start an application:)

Talk to ABHC, he will work with you.
If I completed my application from Japan, on a ship, with a TRASH chain of command, you can do it too!
I am a YN, PM me if I can help.

lol being FDNF has been pretty annoying for this whole process. Have you heard anything about your completed app yet?

You just need to stay up a little longer and wait till the sun rises on the east coast to call the Chief! ;)

You did contact him making sure everything is in order, correct?

Best of luck!

So CO gave my package to XO since he used to be on the board of personnel at USNA. I asked him yesterday and he promised he was almost done:) Last thing I asked Chief was the proper mailing address for my endorsement but I will continue to contact him.
