My daughter is interested in applying to AF. She is a good lacrosse player. AF does not have IC women's lacrosse. I assume IC sport coaches can assist their atheltes. Do club sports have the ability to assist athletes with the application process?

Yes. I have a girl in my squad who does serious club lax. She will be able to play more of it here.

I think the question was if Club sports (Coaches) have any means of "Assisting" applicants with the "Process".

While it's true that a recruited athlete (IC) can get some assistance in the application process, the only edge they might have in getting accepted, would be if they were like nationally ranked and a major athletic recruit. Most athletes playing IC sports, even though they were recruited, still had to become qualified and everything on their own; just like the other applicants. It's nice having a coach who can let you know about the process; paperwork; nominations; etc... But you can get all that and a lot more from your ALO when they are assigned to you. Again; unless you're some nationally ranked athlete being sought after by numerous schools, you don't have that much of an edge in the application process. I can say however that it was a little nicer/easier/whatever for my son on in-processing day. Being the team had met with appointee/players numerous times in the past; they had a get together breakfast the morning prior to in-processing. Then they took them all together for in-processing. Definitely helped those not feel so alone.

But as for the application process and getting the appointment, you'll get much more advice and assistance from your ALO. Matter of fact; my son had already completed his application and received an appointment before ever really talking to the coaches. Hope this helps. Get to know your ALO. Make them your best friend. later.... mike......

who else is here to agree that whenever your scrolling through a post and see the really really long one you know its CC's and you stop and read it just for the amazing advice even though it has nothing to do with you (im a guy who does NOT play lacrosse) haha

Packer; I know there's a compliment there; (Hee Hee); but being long winded is a problem I sometimes have. I've been doing forums for so long, that I've learned that it is very easy to misunderstand what is being said. Then you have a dialog-multilog going on trying to clarify. I "TRY" to save time by making my point as clear as possible the first time. Sometimes it takes too many words. Please indulge me with your patience. Mike......

Definitely. Christcorp, I don't post often, but I've glean much from this forum, and I always appreciate when people not only take the time to offer their advice and experiences, but to do it clearly. Believe me, the effort is noted and patience granted...if it's needed at all. :thumb:

Sorry for adding to the thread-jacking...you may return to your regularly scheduled posting.
