Ok, so my son is on "plan B" having received the TWE from USNA yesterday and USMA has told him he is unlikely to make the waitiing list cut this year, although the final envelope has not yet come.
His preferred Plan B is to attend the local state university, taking Calc II, Chem, Eng, Hist, German etc. then reapply. However they just announced that they will be starting a new ArmyROTC program at the Univ this fall. Obviously he doesn't have an Army ROTC scholarship, but will be looking into doing Army ROTC there without scholarship. If he does this, he will be doing it with the specific goal of reapplying to USMA and USNA (he wants to go infantry). If he does not get in next year, he would transfer to a different Univ that will allow him to persue Engineering and Arabic, both not offered here. Hopefully doing so with a 3 year ROTC scholarship to that school. So here is the question...
1.) Will he be able to easily transfer to a different ROTC program since he is non scholarship?
2.) Are there any/many scholarships for those who transfer into a school? As I understand it they are run thru the individual school and not the national selection program.
3.) This may allow for him to get another nomination source to West Point, but as I understand it not to Annapolis, true?
4.) If he decides to go Navy-Marine option is this hard to do from one year in Army ROTC?
Thanks
