I recieved my congressional nom a while back and had some insight from a friend of my family's who works in admissions that I was chosen as the fourth from the top slot for my nomination from my member of congress. Does this mean I probably won't get an appointment? I was told my file was decently competitive (5th out of 505, 1350 new sat, and some leadership positions within clubs and sports). Also, I retook the sat and I'm pretty certain I scored higher but scores aren't due back until the 23rd. Will my file be reviewed by my MOC/admissions?

You can still get an appointment. Usually, if principal nominee declines, it goes down the list until someone accepts. Otherwise, you get put into NWL pool. Your profile is competitive so just hope for the best.

Okay thank you. Can only one person from a congressional district be accepted? I've been on the nwl since early December. If a candidate accepts before my slot, am I out?

More than one person from a congressional district can be selected. Only 1 person may be "charged" to that congressional district. The other appointment would be "charged" to something else, NWL appointment or some other appointment source.

Once you're on the NWL, you're competing against all the candidates from across the nation. From there it's only a matter of updating your portal to make it the best it can be. I'm at spot #8 so I have a much longer way to go, but I was told that if I try the ACT and get a certain score, then I'm definitely in. Now I'm cram studying until 1AM. Don't give up!!

That makes sense. Thank you

Hopefully this new sat score will help me out. Thank you for the insight.
