Subj: RULES FOR FULL CARRY-ON FOR THE CLASS OF 2012
1. The following are the rules and regulations concerning full carry-on for the Class of 2012.
a. Fourth-classmen are no longer required to brace up, square corners, keep their eyes in the boat, or march in section to classes and military obligations. Fourth-classmen must use the sidewalks when transiting to class. Use of the road is strictly prohibited.
b. Fourth-classmen must still greet upperclass and address all upperclass, including 3/c, as sir/ma’am.
c. Fourth-classmen must still perform morning orderlies and take out the trash and must still ask permission to come aboard or shove off if requesting to enter or leave an upperclassman’s room or officer’s/chief’s office.
d. Fourth-classmen must still call attention on deck and come to attention when an upperclass enters their room.
e. Fourth-classmen may speak to one another at will.
f. Fourth-classmen may listen to music out loud, but must maintain appropriate volume.
g. Fourth-classmen may use social networking and instant messenger services, but may not violate any fraternization policies, such as Facebook “friending” any upperclass.
h. Fourth-classmen may play video games and watch videos on their computers but must follow all computer usage policies.
i. Fourth-classmen are no longer required to double-time and may transit through the quads.
j. Fourth-classmen are no longer required to wear backpacks or carry laptop cases to class and may hand-carry books, but must still render proper salutes with their free right hand.
k. Fourth-classmen are still required to only use their last name on their whiteboard.
l. Fourth-classmen must maintain a professional manner as is expected of cadets and officers.
m. All normal fourth-class liberty privileges and fraternization policies still apply.
2. Any deviations from the aforementioned will result in revocation of the privilege.
