My DD was awarded the following:
  • AFROTC Type 7 scholarship
  • AROTC 3 year scholarship
She has to accept or decline the AROTC soon. Would she be able to accept the Army and then still keep the Air Force as an option or would accepting one close out the other? She hasn't heard from all of her schools and acceptances may play a factor in her decision. At this point she is leaning toward Air Force but just looking to keep as many options available to her.
TIA

Yes, she can accept both scholarships, one won't close the other out and she can decide later which one to commit.

What job does she want after she commissions?

She can accept both. I am biased, but she should go with AROTC as the 3AD is worth more than the AF Type 7. What is her intended major and what would she like to do as an officer?

If she got in to Boston U, they would pay half of the first year's tuition and top off the other three years. Great deal, but a little late to apply I guess. :)

One thing to place into your equation is that AFROTC scholarships are what we call here 2+2. It is not a 4 yr guaranteed scholarship. If she is not picked up as a sophomore for Summer Field Training, than HQ AFROTC may disenroll her, thus the loss of the scholarship.

The recent rates have hovered around 93% overall for SFT selection, BUT she would be in the lowest selection bracket as a non-tech/non-rated applicant. If the numbers drop to even 90% overall, her bracket is still going to be way lower (10-20%) than that for selection because the AF leans more to STEM majors and those that want to fly.
~ The brackets are TECH/rated, Non-tech/rated, tech/non-rated and non-tech/non rated.

Pima provides excellent guidance as usual. There is a distinct difference in the two programs that the OP needs to consider when comparing the two.

Since she is a Psych major, she would have more career field options in the Army.
