I was wondering and anxious as to what it'd be like before I went so figured I'd post my experience in case anyone was wondering what it's like or may be like. I completely loved it. I had already accepted my appointment before ever having visited which may not have been the greatest idea but I'd been wanting it for years and years so wasn't going to hold back. Since I'd already accepted, I was nervous as to if it was wrong and just the normal jitters everyone gets. Arrived there, Post is completely beautiful. From a distance it's pretty intimidating but once I got out and walked around things didn't seem so overwhelming anymore. The best part of the stay was the Cadets. Stayed with several plebes with all different backgrounds than me however all of us were interested in the same branch, so that was a huge bonus for me. Extremely outgoing and willing to share any information they had. Also were very real as to letting me know about the poorer things about the Academy, but how it's really not as bad as things may seem. The biggest thing was seeing that Cadets and the school aren't this crazy mythical thing that I always had in the back of my head for all these years and seen in documentaries and books. Everything was real and just made the whole idea that I'm actually going to go there finally sink in. Would definitely recommend doing an overnight if you can. I went through about 200 questions with my plebes and got great advice and wisdom and got to see what it's like actually attending the Academy. So that was my experience and if anyone looking to do one has any questions I'd be happy to answer

My son also stayed overnight at WP after he had already accepted, so the visit wasn't going to change his mind (he'd wanted to attend WP for several years already). He decided that it would be a fun way to spend a few days of his last semester in high school. And he was right. He loved every minute of it.

That's great! My son had his visit a little more than a year ago, and loved it. He knew then he wanted West Point over the other academies, and he stuck with that. What barracks were you in? My son is in Bradley; I-2 . They had good weather this week, so you went at the right time. I am glad you reported back.

Yeah the weather was beautiful! I stayed in Ike barracks with C-3, loved the company

Im jazzed you had an awesome experience! Now that you've been there, some of the "butterflies" on R-Day will have flown away. If you remember other details about your visit please post them for other readers.

Good Luck on R-Day!!
