To the Candidates of the Class 2013 who have accepted an appointment to the United States Naval Academy, has anyone received a "Permit to Report Package" from Candidate Guidance yet? My son sent in his acceptance back in February....I thought he would have received it by mid April....

a little more waiting

Hi, I actually called admissions today to ask that very thing. The packets are delayed for all candidates due to volume. I was told they would be mailed sometime AFTER May 1. So...don't worry. I did get them to check my son's file and they confirmed that they have received all required documents requested of him (police record check, proof of citizenship, acceptance of appointment, and tatoo form). They told me to sit tight and expect packet in early May...hope this helps.:thumb:

Thanks for checking! It's been on my mind too ... We did just receive my son's birth certificate back ... so progress is being made ...

The Permit to Report packages will all go out at the same time. Mid-May to early June is normal the last couple years.
Here are the important things to do:
1. Make sure his shot record is up to date and he has multiple copies of same.
2. Get his wisdom teeth popped if they have not already been removed.
3. Update or get him a Passport.
4. Get him a properly fitted pair of running shoes and have him start breaking in same.
5. About three weeks before I –Day take him to the nearest Marine Corps facility and get him a good “Recruit” hair cut. This will allow pre-sun conditioning of his sensitive little head and prevent a nasty sun burn on the newly exposed white skin on his Plebey head.
6. Get him a touch-up hair cut on 29 or 30 June.
7. Get him started on the 5 basic responses: Yes, Sir/Ma’am; No Sir/Ma’am, Aye, Aye Sir/Ma’am; No excuse Sir/Ma’am; I’ll find out Sir/Ma’am.
He will be good to go!

Hi,
Has anyone had any success accessing the Candidate Academic Background System? The link is on the USNA website, but I still cannot access it. I, too have not heard about the Permit to Report package, but I just sent in the Acceptance Cert.
Thanks

Candidate Academic Background System--where would this link be? If you tell me what to click, I will try to access and then let you know if I have any success :):thumb:

I'm looking at the above site now, and am surprised I haven't heard about it before; it looks pretty important.
How did you find out about this site?

I signed on with no problems either- I just filled in the high school and college schools I attended.

Thanks Arete! I didn't know it was up yet! I'll tell him so he can get started!

I wonder since he only has 13 days left of school if it is okay for him to fill stuff out... maybe he should wait...

Thanks. Just one thing: I asked about wisdom teeth and was told by admissions to leave them in. If he needs them out, they will take them out. My son's have not erupted yet, and likely will not because of their angle. They aren't causing him any trouble, so we aren't going to put him through oral surgery. Besides, if they are taken out then DoDMERB would have to clear him again...or so I've been told.

uhm when i needed to get my teeth out i emailed my CGO and he gave me the email to the medical lady at the academy and she told me to just get them out and to not worry or send anything in because they will take a panorex when we all get there so i would get them out now cause you don't want to have to add wisdom teeth to plebe year.
