Wondering when is the latest the Academy will reach out offering an appointment. It just feels like I am putting my life on hold because I do not know whether I will be leaving mid-June for BCT, or if I will be spending the summer like any other college student. I have a plan-B in case I get rejected, but I would just like to know when is the absolute latest I will find out if I have been appointed.

All candidates will know of their appointment status by 4/15/17

j4313n, are you certain of this? In almost every past year, there are some stragglers who hear late for a variety of reasons.

ItsWes, try not to check your portal every day. Do you have some big vacation plans which need to be firmed up NOW? Do you think you want to have a job at the Dairy Queen AND as a life guard so you have to apply now? Your PlanB school is (usually) not going to require your absolute acceptance (and hence, your deposit) until probably May 1st (though you should check that). You have time! Take a deep breath!

I get it: the waiting is hard, and you've got a lot riding on an appointment. Are you asking the same questions of your PlanB school? "When will you decide? I've got to figure out if I am going to give you a $700 non-refundable deposit, or take my chances!"

I think you will have a very good idea if you have an appointment by the middle of April. Your counselor will be able to tell you where you sit and if you have any realistic chance of an appointment. While there are always a few crazy exceptions at the end of the process, most everything is resolved by then. You should move toward working on Plan B and doing what you need to be ready for college.

My counselor told me that I'll know before he does and he won't hear anything until I tell him.

Did your USAFA counselor or your liaison officer tell you this? Seems as though your counselor would know before you would know, but your ALO would not. Just wondering.
