It's happened several times to candidates on this forum, which is a relatively small portion of candidates. So my guess is this is a systemic problem for the NROTC program

I never implied that was a systemic problem. I know mistakes happen, but the mistakes should be rectified. If it's the the first offense of the recruiter, he or she should be reprimanded and the performance report should reflect the reprimand #accountability.

These young men and women accepting appointments in the Service academy and accepting military scholarships will be held accountable and will hold people accountable.

The recruiters should be held to the same standard.

Fortunately the young man got an appointment to the USAFA and is moving on.

I meant that if your status on your netfocus portal reads "No decision has been made on your application", but in reality your recruiter failed to send all of your documentation into the Naval selection board, you would not know that.
 
DD's NROTC portal says that "All documentation has been received." in addition to "No decision has been made on your application". Does your portal say the same thing or something different? Her DODMERB and USNA portals both say that her medical is still pending even though the form was e-mailed 10 days ago and they acknowledged receipt. They are pretty slow at DODMERB because this is round two for a minor issue. I know that they are probably slammed right now but at least it shows that it's pending so we know it's not lost.

My son's says the same thing. I just made him stop what he was doing and check his because this thread made me panic. He had to do it because I have no clue how to access or what any of his usernames and passwords are for anything.

I'm fairly confident his is complete because the recruiting district officer sent my son frequent emails throughout the process of what items he was missing and when they needed to be submitted by. This guy cc'd the parent on all of these emails as well that's why I knew about all the emails.
 
@TexasSoccerMom I didn't mean to make you panic. We're all on edge right now. It's a daily ritual to check everything to see if any one of three portals has changed. I'll be glad when a decision is made and we know where we're going. It's kind of like being a kid again and waiting to see what Santa brings. Is it going to be that really cool toy that I wanted or new underwear? [emoji12]

No worries. I startle pretty easily these days. I had zero nada involvement in any of his applications/interviews/essays. I have recently had a baby so my only participation in 2 academy and 2 ROTC applications has been taking him to Brooks Brothers for a new suit for interviews and buying a fruit and veggie tray the night the BGO came to our house. Husband and I have had no part of this other than just being supportive. Been busy with baby. I just want something to work out for him because he has really stepped up, matured and started doing things independently. I guess having a mom who has on bed rest for a few months with a 9 lb 14 oz baby boy will make a teenager independent real quick.

My DS was told everything was in as well. His portal said "updating"-never mentioned anything missing, nor did the recruiters comment. BUT IF something was amiss you would know, because they closed it the end of Jan and kids would have been notified by the end of Feb.

Just been informed I still haven't been reviewed by the admissions board. That's what I get for submitting my application on the last day I guess.

See, I don't get that. How can they start sending out appointments and TWE's without knowing if they have the 2nd coming of John Paul Jones or the worst applicant to ever get a nomination still in the piles? Who told you that, btw?

The admissions board did when I called them. I think they look at each congressional slate differently, and the TWE's are those who didn't receive noms or didn't win their slate.

So does that mean they through the stack by date completed or?
 
Does anyone know how long it takes the portal to be updated after your MOC contacts you, the letter was dated 3/15/17? Also does the USNA send anything in the mail saying you were appointed?
