We attended the appointee tour this week and were very impressed with the valuable information and briefings we received. The cadets and new lieutenants were all very respectful and informative. The F-16 flybys were a nice touch, too! All in all, this was well-worth the trip and although my DS is still considering options, USAFA scored big with this tour- especially with the Airmanship briefing. Good job, Admissions Office!

The young man who did the Airmanship briefing was very good interacting with the audience and sharing information. I also enjoyed getting to see the athletic facilities as we did not get that on the regular tour. My son's favorite part was getting to go with a cadet to "class" (three of them actually went to his dorm and just talked) right before lunch. We were also able to go to Clothing and Sales with our Military ID and get some boots for him to start wearing after the tour was over. Great day.

@dancing_falcon did you go to this? What did you think? #3 was helping me w something in DC and he heads to Italy on Tuesday so he didn't make it.
@Hebaragi ????

Yes, the 2LT giving the Aitmanship presentation was very inspiring - I very much appreciated his positive outlook and sharing his own path to pilot training. The entire day/program was fantastic - DS came home to San Diego and immediately accepted his appointment - the F-16s buzzing campus was icing on the cake!

The tour was great. DS's first time at the Acadamy and he fell in love with the place. The F-16 flying over the Acadamy helps too. Overall, it was a very informative tour for the parents and appointees. The chapel was beautiful inside and out. The dorm rooms were bigger than expected. DS love the one on one interaction with a Cadet. He followed him around for a class and got to see the teaching environment. He was signed to a senior and he made him draw a cartoon character of the professor. Which he followed the orders. DS told me the whole class and the professor got a good laugh. After that, he ate lunches at a table with the senior Cadets and sat next to a future NFL first round draft player. He told me that food was much better than he expected. Overall DS was happy to see that the Acadamy is not all about marching and drills. The Cadets do have fun. One thing that DS got out of this tour was the Cadets work hard and play hard.

Thanks @Hebaragi Sounds like a great trip. No socks and sandals! And no complaints about the weather.

And you get to attend every football home game for free!

For any women attending the appointee tour, what do the moms wear? I am having a hard time figuring out "business casual" with comfortable waking shoes. Are people wearing nice jeans and sneakers?

I wore leggings and boots as it had snowed the night before! There were plenty of moms wearing jeans and I am sure sneakers would be fine.

Sorry to burst your bubble but they charge you 50 dollars a year to attend football games. You just never see the money cuz it's taken out of your paycheck before you get it.

I would suspect that the "business casual" attire indicated on the itinerary applies to appointees only. Did the male chaperones dress down as well (jeans) during your tour?

As in male chaperones you mean the cadets and 2nd LT giving the tours/taking them to classes? They will be in uniform which is either the Air Force blues uniform or Airman Battle Uniform most days

Male chaperones as in parents or guardians of the appointees.

When I went on my tour 3 years ago my dad wore business casual as well like most of the parents. I've seen parents dress down too though

DS and dad will both go in business dress attire with sneakers. Thanks.

Are you invited to this tour if you have already accepted? I would love to go just to see and learn more but is it only offered to undecided appointees?

It is for all Appointees (whether accepted or undecided). I believe some of the tours were before the acceptance deadline and others were after.
