I saw some older posts (2012) on this subject so I wanted to see if anything has changed since then. Is a "leatherman" overkill or the right item to send along with DD for CBT?

Thanks!

For anyone looking at this post in the future, I ordered the Gerber Diesel Multi Plier. Good reviews and tools seemed to be most applicable.

"Deisel" is the model. "Gerber" is the manufacturer. It has the bottle/can opener and basic blades and scissors someone recommended. Thought it would be the right thing for CBT. Can always upgrade later if needed. At $55 price was good to. I'm not an expert so just making an educated guess.

One question... how do we get said knife to r day on a plane?
Unless you check a bag, you don't. It cannot go in a carry on. One suggestion may be to wait and purchase after you land or to purchase a cheaper one there for BEAST and have your quality multitool brought up at A-Day or mailed in. That's what my DS will do.

I would recommend having it for CBT, the knife is probably more of a field tool than a garrison tool. I recall seeing my DS actually using and letting other cadets use his knife on the apron after march back...

There are gerber people and there see leathermen people. Always more partial to leathermen myself...carried one during my service years. Funny...for me the most used item was the saw blade!
