PTR

Nothing in Texas either. Plenty of time not to worry. My kid is at college anyway, so he wouldn't be able to attack the paperwork for a couple of weeks.

It came today. Lucky us 0615 report time. Told my daughter she is lucky that will be the last day she gets "to sleep in".:yikes:
Dad and I will take our run around the yard and then have breakfast at the Iron Rooster. Who else is in?

Don't stress about Report times. Everyone will get thru the day. Sure it might give more time 'to put your stuff away.' But you will quickly realize it doesn't matter, it's just more time to be yelled at. Besides even if your stuff is done, you are failing until everyone's is done! There are a few bottle necks at alumni hall during inprocessing. Usually it's medical and trying on uniforms. Females, since there are much fewer tend to make it thru quick as the try on for fit and get changed goes much faster. Medical review can also backlog. Eat breakfast before you go. Hydrate. And most of all take a few deep breathes and remember everyone chosen has the ability to make it thru. On the days you are down, remember that.

Hoops knows whereof she speaks.

It's early for the annual warning, but if DD/DS wants to get there early so as to be precisely on time, and gets dropped off while someone is dumping the car and planning to return for the final hug -- DO NOT stand too close to Alumni Hall doors. There is a vacuum there, possibly a wormhole, that will suck in any P2B standing too close. If there is room to get them in, the staff working the door can spot a waiting P2B with unerring accuracy and invite them in...

Hoops' comments about "more time to do x" made me instantly recall my reporting in to OCS. Report time was 2-6 pm. Thinking if I got there early, I would have time to look around, unpack, get settled in, walk around, I reported not long after 2. I was welcomed pleasantly at the quarterdeck, turned in my orders, signed a few things, and escorted through the swinging door. Then the yelling began. I was the first to report, and the only ninny there until at least 3. The prior enlisted showed up around 5:45. At least I had my salute down, was getting the hang of basic marching and required communications format.

Try to get a decent amount of calories and protein the night before, and something that morning, plus plenty of water. It will be a long, hot, stressful, daze-making day. For all!

Dropped wife, daughter and youngest at Alumni an hour before report time. Went to the stadium to park the car. Got off the bus and youngest was in tears. Wife's comment was you had the camera and missed the whole thing. Hide behind the Admission Building.

Admissions is in Halsey now, near Gate 1, not sure what if anything of Admissions is in their old building. Chapel, Club, Worden Field Gazebo (bandstand, also has bathrooms beneath) are safe enough distances.

Finally got the PTR here in Texas.
