R-Day Countdown begins

love it!

Cool beans....son will LOVE this.

...sniff, sniff....pass the kleenex.

I can only imagine that the ride gets bumpier and more emotional as the time draws near. Exciting and scary at the same time, sending off my first born. Will continue to draw on the experiences of those who have gone before us.

Countdown to R day for the Class of 2013

Time is ticking, before you know it you and your son or daughter will make the trip to New London. Make sure they enjoy their last days at home. They will get nervous, and so will you. Know that they are going to an institution that is designed to support them and see them succeed.
They should prepare. Make sure parents and future swab read their respective handbooks. R day is not something to fear, but it is a transition time for them.
It will be an adventure, and they should embrace it as such.

I wish you all well.

Oh my! Thanks for the reminder Luigi. I have already started sniffing and crying a bit...at the oddest moments too. Weird range of emotions, from the highest high, to quite depressed, actually. Not what I expected at all.

Acceptance was mailed last Monday and son is still quite high on life right now. So, this mom will just need to figure out how to keep a handle on the emotions.

PT

Remember as your school year winds down, you should pick up your PT pace.
New London is hot and humid during the summer. The Academy is a series of hills. The more you prepare now the better for you later on.

I wish you all well.

Countdown To Class of 2013 R-Day

Attn Class of 2013 Parents - you now have only 10 more weekends together before your swab reports on 29 June.

:yikes:

Whoooa. That makes it scary real! I am excited for my kid, but putting a tiny little number like 10 in front of weekends left makes me kinda sad....and of course happy and proud and nervous and.....well, you get it. What a rollercoaster. I hear the ride is worth it though.

AND WE KNOW IT WILL FLY BY (I get 4 extra weeks!)...

Don't start turning there bedrooms into a spare sewing room before they leave :shake: just kidding, love 'em up, soak it in, and tell they CAN do this and they WILL be on the adventure of a lifetime. Good luck to all. -officer

It's getting CLOSE!!!

It's almost two whole months away...not THAT close.....

Funny thing is, my husband said to me...."son goes to the academy NEXT MONTH". Whoa. That made it sound so much closer than "son goes to the academy in 7 1/2 weeks". Six of one, half dozen of the other....I'll stick with 7 1/2 weeks. It's what we've all been hoping for, but the reality is a bit much to digest when I really let myself think about it!

Hoping everyone else is enjoying all of the paperwork and tube sock shopping as much as my son is. :shake:
