Now before I tell you why, I want you to know that I am usually a big fan of Southwest Airlines. In fact, I am STILL a huge fan of Southwest Airlines, however the sale today by JetBlue has made me a fan.

This morning I was at work and I received an email from a LCDR in my office. Shortly after than I received the exact same email from an Ensign in a different office. Later in the day I received that SAME email from a civilian in my office....and what did this email say?

It said in appreciation for all that the military does, during military appreciation month, JetBlue would sell active duty members of the military in the DC area (and one other place) $1 tickets to any location served nonstop.

ONE DOLLAR?!?!?! I KNEW it had to be a joke. I followed the link and found that it was to a legit news source, called the number and discovered that it was TRUE! Well, I didn't want to waste it. I bought a round trip ticket from Dulles to Orlando. Total cost for this round trip? $23 (added some fees, but STILL, that's a CRAZY price to fly with). So, I put in for two days of leave and I'm headed to Orlando. I will be staying at Shades of Green, enjoying Disney World (especially water parks), yes alone, but still, it will be fun! Shades of Green, as far as Disney resort hotels are concerned is very affordable. So that, topped with the fact that Disney is giving out FREE military 5 day passes to all parks until December means I will have a very affordable few days off. :thumb:

So there you go, JetBlue did a good thing, and I appreciated it.

Below is the link to their website.

:biggrin:Hey hey LITS, be careful!
A few years back, my two older brothers went to the Boy Scout High Adventure base at Key West. They flew JetBlue. They were set to arrive around 1:30 or 2 pm.
When we arrived, JetBlue listed the flight from Ft. Lauderdale as landed. After about 45 min wait, we asked the woman at the JetBlue desk, and she first confirmed what the sign said, but then humored us and called the office in Ft. Lauderdale. The plane hadn't even taken off yet... and didn't for several hours.
My brothers finally got back to DC after 10 or 11 pm, and it was a nightmare finding out whether they had actually left or not.
What Jet Blue is doing is awesome! I just figured I'd share this since you said you were going to Florida. The only thing we suffered from was a little hunger and some family time spent pleasantly bickering.
Have fun!

Haha, thanks for the heads up.

That's right up there with my Continental experience....flying with the girlfriend and family from Phoenix, AZ to Providence, RI, with a 1.5 hour layover in Newark, NJ.....we go to get on the plane and the Continental gate worker informs me that my flight is in 2 days....."I have a 2 day layover? I don't think so." It was resolved but I found that typical. That or the Northwest flight that lost my luggage.....on a non-stop, direct flight, which means that my luggage just never made it to me....

After logging almost half a million air passenger miles with many different airlines, I can tell you that I have had bad experiences with almost EVERY airline flying today (USAir, United, Delta, NWA, Continental, Pan Am, American), and a lot that aren't flying anymore (Eastern, Piedmont, Presidential, Air Florida, Bar Harbor, Midway, Vanguard, National, Braniff).

The only US based airline that I have never had a problem with is SouthWest.

That is because I have never flown on SouthWest.
