Does anyone know where I can get a schedule of events for the Army-Navy weekend? The game is obvious but I understand that there are other activities. Any suggestions on how to take full advantage? I already got tickets for the game.

broval, I never expect Navy to win. I do however always expect Army to lose. [emoji3]
Oh, the kids from both schools are big-time winners; always. I would like to say they are both equal; but we know the kids from West Point are a little more equal than the Navy kids.

All this banter between 2nd & third place C-in-C Trophy eligible teams. If you want to see the triple option run the right way, attend the Air Force game;)

Who ? I've always found it funny (and always mention to it the USAFA grads that I know), USNA is focused on beating Army, and Air Force is simply an afterthought. I am sure its historical, since USAFA is a late comer to the dance, but Plebes are taught from Day 1 that "Beat Army" is the mantra .... they chop and square corners in Bancroft Hall, and except for perhaps a few days before the AF game, always sound off with Go Navy or Beat Army.

First tip for Navy folks: no longer should you "expect" to win
.
I never expected anything. Even during our 14 year winning streak.....Oh my, did I just say 14 years , that sounds so nice :bounce:! ..one could never take the game for granted. There were alot of great games in that run, and even when overmatched, Army made a strong showing. I almost started feeling sorry for them, but quickly go over it.

The Commander in Chief Trophy's record shows Air Force with 20 wins, Navy 15, & Army 6 since it's creation in 1972 (4 years were shared).
With that being said, Army's QB Trent Steelman's performance in the 2012 Army/Navy game is really all you need to know about how much this game means to all involved. It is my favorite Army/Navy game because it shows all the emotion that can happen in sports & I mean that with no disrespect.

Well aware of the C In C records -- but the point was that winning the C in C trophy is not on the minds of Navy day in, day out; but BEAT ARMY is. Sure , beating Air Force is great, but beating Army is soooo much more important. Just an institutional thing. I suspect Army is the same.... The Army-Navy game is 117 years old, Navy -Air Force just doesn't have the storied tradition and doesn't create the emotion that Army Navy does.

+ 1 -- Absolutely, the Army Navy game is college athletics at its best. Records don't mean anything going into that game, and even when both teams go in 1-10 (and that's happened!) , its still going to be a great game. I love that the game has been moved to that dead week after all the big league championships, so that it gets some recognition, and think CBS has done a great job presenting the game the last few years. Watching the game can be an emotional roller coaster, even 30+ years later, and I have to hand it to those kids on the field . However, while its easy to forget for a few hours in December, we all know that we are on the same team and I have nothing but respect for those at West Point and Air Force.

You are all digressing. Could you please get back to the OP and address where I can find more information about the army-navy weekend's events? Specifically, I'm looking for the boxing? parade? drum competition? Has anyone gone before as a parent (and not as a midshipmen) and want to share?

Doesn't look like the full detailed schedule is published yet but some of the big events like boxing, Patriot games, tailgaters, game day stuff is on the site Capt MJ posted. Although there will be Mids and Cadets in Philly on Friday the majority of them won't be there until Friday after class or Saturday. Eventually they release a full schedule, especially of game day down to the minute for March on, Leap Frogs and Golden Nights, POW Cadet/Mid exchange, kick off, etc. There are lots of things going on the Yard too. Bonfire Thursday night, they start the game ball run Friday morning, team send off, etc. It's a fun weekend.

Last year Navy refused to box Army, the national boxing champs several times over. They did offer to do a tap dancing contest, or synchronized swimming contest instead of boxing, but West Point did not have people to compete with Navy in those events, which I understand Navy is quite strong in.

It will all be eventually be on the website I posted, the official site. Too early now. Once the ac year starts, the additional events get firmed up.

We're coming in from the left coast. When should we plan on getting in? The morning day before? The afternoon day before? The evening day before? I want to lock in the flight before the prices creep up.

If you haven't done tourist things in Philly before, come in on Thursday and devote Thursday night and Friday to seeing historic things, eating your way through Reading Terminal Market, enjoying the great restaurants and hitting all the Friday A-N events. Depart Sunday. Helps with jet lag and gives you a full play day on Friday.

If you are feeling adventurous, don't rent a car. Take the train from PHL and stay in a Center City hotel. Train to the game with all the families and fans. Walk everywhere else, great excuse to have cheesesteaks. It's well-marked and easy to figure out. Locals are happy to help.

Here's a story from a few years ago, which describes the game day trains https://www.google.com/amp/www.phillymag.com/news/2015/12/07/septa-army-navy-game/?amp=1
Any hotel doorman or front desk staff can get you smart on the trains.

We have often stayed at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown on Market St., which is centrally located for all the things we walk or train to. Using that as a place marker, you can find hotels at all price points in the same area. I think we walk a block or so over toward City Hall to catch the Broad St. Line to the game. DH is a Philly native who went to St. Peter's School nearby as a boy; I just follow him.

Consider doing the USNA Alumni Assn tailgater, which is usually in a hotel, for a big pre-game feed. Or, maybe your local Parents Club is tailgating in the parking lot.

Typically, one large hotel is the Army HQ and another is the Navy HQ, where the leadership stays. It's one big moving mass of Navy and Army spirit gear, so don't worry about where you end up staying. Book early, same theory as your airfare. Many hotels will have a two or three night minimum that weekend, and it won't be cheap.

Coming from California, we do Thursday through Monday. For 2015 & 2016 we stayed in Annapolis and plan to do so again this year. Reservations have already been made.

On both occasions our MIDN started the day by riding a USNA bus to ESPN College Game Day, but was able to ride back and spend the night with us.

Another reason for a Thursday arrival is to give yourself an extra opportunity to get to the Amish Market. They're only open Thursday through Saturday. I plan to be there next week to pickup a pack of highly recommended pecan sticky buns.

When the game is in Baltimore (Ravens stadium) or DC (Redskins), most stay in Annapolis. Many choose to stay in Annapolis when it's in Philly, "home of the game," driving up and back on game day. It all depends how much you want to see of A-N events and either Annapolis or game city.

The siren song of the Amish Market can be powerful.

Just making your choices harder...you can always try one way and then another.

To us, Army Navy Football and other USNA events have become more about spending time with our MIDN. Same reason for attending I-Day this year.

In 2013, prior to having a MIDN, we stayed in Philly. I think it really depends on the logistics of friends and family also attending.
